Mailing ECU to Ivan

Hi to all,

Has anyone had issues with either US or Canadian Customs when mailing your ECU to Ivan from Canada? I'm in BC, looking to send him mine soon.

Shouldn't be a prob the only thing I can see maybe is paying more for shipping.

I would suggest not mailing it until he returns from Vacation. Per his web site they will be closed until 8/15/16.

I'm waiting also. Bet he will be busy when he returns.

I sent mine from NZ, had no issues with Customs in either direction. I asked Ivan the same thing before I sent it, he told me he's never had any problems. He won't tell anything except the truth on the documents, so NZ Customs clipped the ticket and charged me some tax on the way in. That didn't bother me as much as the 4 or 5 days they held it back till they got around to sending me a letter asking for the money.

Worth it all though.

This was posted by someone else. I saved it because I will be sending an ECU to Ivan.

"If you live in the states, then using an overnight courier both there and back you could have it back the day after it was sent, but you'll be paying extra for the priority service. If you live in Canada, it's a bit more complicated as it has to pass customs twice. Canada Post works well getting the ECU through customs without having duty slapped on, but it takes a few days longer sending and receiving. I live in Canada, so I completed the customs form off canadapost.ca prior to taking it to the post office. Checked the box for "Return at my expense if undeliverable", Check the box for "Repair / Warrante" , and described the item as Motorcycle Electronics with a value of $500.00. Worked well. The guy at the post office printed the shipping label right from the info on the customs form so I didn't even have to do that. Just make sure you print the order form off Ivan's website, complete it and stuff it in the package with the ECU. Ivan calls you at the phone number you put on the form. I used my cell number so I could take the call wherever i was so turn around wasn't delayed playing telephone tag. Over the phone you make payment and get the return tracking number so have CC and pen and paper handy.
One more thing. Canada Post tracking numbers work both on canadapost.ca and usps.com, so when the package crosses the border, you can get tracking updates sooner on usps.com. Vs versa when it is returned".

I agree once riding season is over in Canada he will be floating in Canadian ECU's this year I agree with that totally.

Just a side note when sending your ECU to Ivan's for the flash. I phoned my dealership today and asked them the replacement cost of my ecu for my Vaquero and they informed me that it was $834.99 plus GST and PST which was a total of $954.84 Canadian dollars. I am going to insure it for $1000.00 when shipping as it only costs $20.25 for the extra insurance for loss or damaage. Something to think about.
