Damn Harleys!

A lot of the VROC members here in the south east knows my Harley ridding Buddy, "Binky". Unlike most Harley riders he doesn't have that Harley attitude.

Well, he traded up from a soft tail to a little larger bike, and I don't recall which one it was. (I have a lot of pictures of him broken down and me fixin his bike on the side of the road.)

I had a Patriot Guard ride last Saturday and asked him to join me. It was raining, sleeting, and snowing at the same damn time!! We all met at the staging point and rode together to the funeral home.

Well, it came time to head to another point and when we all fired up.... his didn't!! So, as everyone was heading out with the police escort what was I ding?? PUSHING THAT DAMN HARLEY!!! After shoving that thing until my heart felt like it would explode the POS finally fired up.

We tried to find the group but I had no idea where they went. And, even if he rides junk there was no way I was going to leave him by his self.

3 days old a his newer bikes battery was stone cold dead. Since we couldn't find the group then I decided to take my perfect running Nomad and head back home! <G>
Binky... he headed to the nearest Harley dealer and paid $135.00 for a $65.00 battery!
Harleys, building junk for over 100 years!!

Poor guy, can't you teach him anything? Some people just don't want to learn. They would rather sit beside the road on a Harley than ride anything else. I know people like that, its truly sad. It's like a mental illness, they don't know they have it.

I have friend like that. Currently he doesn't have a bike and wants one very badly. I found and shared several great deals on vulcans, but he's not interested because they aren't HD's. I even found a killer deal on a 800A, it would be less than the down pymt on a HD, but no it's not a HD. I can't figure these people out.

paid $135.00 for a $65.00 battery!

If it was three days old, what the heck was he doing paying for a replacement battery?

3 days old to him. A guy did the same thing to me when we bought our 96 Vulcan 1500 A. Told us that the battery would need to be replaced soon. Drove it home and the next day it would not start. I figure he had charged it up right before we got there.

I guess if the battery died then wouldn't it be the manufacturer of the battery and not the Harley?

Damn Harleys!

I have a friend that bought a Harley Ultra about a year ago. During this last summer, the temps rose to the point to where his engine was locking up due to the oil temp being too high. He now is thinking of installing a cooler for his oil.

I have another friend that bought a brand new Ultra. HD is recalling all the fuel tanks due to possible rupturing on a head-on collision. He's afraid to ride his bike until they get his tank replaced. It never stops does it?

At one time, I thought about getting a Harley...but now I think I"m going to get me a Honda Valk and fix it up. Either that or a 2002 Beige Nomad. I've always liked that color.

Let's be fair here. Your buddy bought a used bike with a bad battery. If this was brand new off the showroom floor, and the battery croaked 3 days later, then that would reflect poorly on H-D.

There have been threads on here in the past about elitist/arrogant H-D owners who ridicule those of us who ride metrics.

Is this thread any different?
