Clutch Adjustment

I have a 2008 Nomad. The clutch grabs at the last quarter of the release of the clutch lever. Is there anyway to increase the friction zone of the clutch?

On my last bike, there was an easy adjustment that took less than 30 minutes, including removing all the exterior parts. Is there anything similar for the Nomad? I have seen lots of threads about clutch springs, but not any other adjustment.

Thanks.

Clutch Adjustment

I haven't seen anything about being able to adjust it. You might try moving the dial on the clutch lever to different positions and see if that will help any.

Clutch Adjustment

It's a hydraulic clutch. There really is no adjustment. You can turn the numbered knob on the clutch lever, which gives a little bit of adjustment for the clutch travel, but that's all there is.

Thanks for the prompt replies. That is what I was afraid of when I couldn't find any posts.

Mine does the same thing...Does this mean that the spring needs to be replaced? :-/

I found that the clutch spring replacement is really easy to do yourself. Just follow the directions from Gadgets site.... http://www.gadgetjq.com/clutch_sprin...htm#Judgesgear

Clutch Adjustment

I replaced my spring 3 weeks ago with 32,000 miles. It was just beginning to slip. Some last over 50,000 miles and some don't last 20,000 miles. Mine was slipping in 2nd and 3rd gear when twisting the throttle hard. Others have only slipped in 4th and 5th gears. More slip in higher gears than lower gears like mine did.

Clutch Adjustment

Ring is correct. That's just the way they are.

Changing the spring will change the feel but not the lever release point.

If you don't like the way it feels then experiment with the lever adjustment. It will make it feel different.

CJ (Mitch), you have a 07, so you have the "upgraded" spring with the factory version of "judges washers" and conceptually you should not experience the dreaded "slip". Have any idea what caused it" When you replaced spring did you find finger wear? Take any measurements on old vs new spring?
