I pulled the tank to run the wires to the coil. It is easier than trying to fish them up under the tank.

Next he'll be telling us that he's going to install cam chain tensioner extensions and service the swing arm.

P.S. If that's a 2008 how come it's painted the 2006 colors? Or did you paint it with a couple of spray cans?

..Got it back together, and have no parts left over !

I dont have anything I can...add.. to the discussion...and I didnt want to hurt -that feeling- again...

As for ease of access to the coil..I agree with removing the tank.

I wonder if a 2 cycle type tach, would work on these bikes as they are "wasted spark/dual fire ignition systems ! ?...maybe a tach designed for a outboard boat motor..(thinking of keeping the price down)..just rambling on, as usual..

Bob, his bike is Blue & Silver, almost like my '05, the blue is the same shade, but the silver is a different shade.

TC, I thought you pulled the tank just so you wouldn't take a chance on scratching it with the bars.

Yup, but the picture he posted of the bike all torn down is Green/Silver. So, he posted a picture of someone else's bike or he's been smoking too much weed or my monitor needs adjusting.

Or maybe I'm just color blind.

You might as well put a couple loud-pipes on it while you are at it...

When changing just the risers Cliff I put a thick towel on the tank to protect it. I don't like removing the tank unless I have a good reason.

The pic is of my Blue and Silver 08 Bob.
Of the three options you listed I have to say your monitor needs adjusting

There were some Ultimate Baffles available here a day or two ago, they would wake it up a bit.
