Polaris Slingshot

Saw one of these in Tennessee today:

Looks just as strange in person and it does online. (Though I confess I did check to see if Batman was driving it as I went by.)

I have seen several of these in my travels. Ugliest damn car around. And no, they are not a motorcycle. You sit on a motorcycle and you sit in these.

In MY opinion, one of the ugliest things on wheels. I HATE THAT THING !
That is not a motorcycle.

I like the "Batman" thinking ! LOL !

Neither. It's the 2.4L GM Ecotec 4 cylinder backed by a 5 speed stick. The drivetrain is directly out of a cage.

They are popular in states with no helmet required, and plenty of curves.

Personally, i'd buy a miata or Pontiac Solstice before I bought one of these. At least you can put the top up when needed.

I did own a solstice. Fun car, but when the weather was perfect to drive it, it was perfect for motorcycling.

] Much of the development work on this project was carried out by Lotus Engineering, Hethel, United Kingdom. The engine uses aluminum pistons and cast iron cylinder liners. Vibration is reduced with twin balance shafts. The first engine in the Ecotec Gen I line-up was Ecotec 2.2 L61, introduced in 2000.
The current Ecotec line is manufactured in Tonawanda, New York,[7] Spring Hill, Tennessee, and Kaiserslautern, Germany.

I love the look of the Pontiac, too bad it couldn't come with a lively 427 motor, to perk it up a bit.

They had a lot of trouble when they first came out in Texas as far as getting them street legal. Didn't meet the Texas definition of motorcycle. Can't say as I blame them. Show me another bike that has a seat, steering wheel, pedals and a gear shift.

Next they'll say it tastes like chicken.
