70,000 miles...wow! I already have one but I am curious if you put all the miles on it? Have you had to do many repairs? just wondering what my future holds...only 6500 on my 2003.

6500? The motorcycle is my main transportation.

Major Problems.
10/03 14,800 mi. leaky cam bolts.
9/06 40,500 mi. leaky clutch rod seal
7/07 49,160 mi. clutch plates and basket replaced
4/08 63,800 mi. new drive shaft
And now the cam chain starting to chew into the spark plug tubes. I'm not mechanically inclined to put on the tensioners. No dealership will do it. All say it's a band-aid fix and want to pull the engine. Hope to sell it off. If not will have to bite the bullet and have it done and but still plan to sell it off.

Thanks for the reply. Yes it only has 6500...I put 3500 since June...the rest were by the previous ownership...they didn't ride much but everything seems in great shape and I have been happy so far (knocking on wood).

Okay. Wondered, why even bother to have a motorcycle if you only rode 6500 miles in 5 years. Have fun with it.

6500 on a 2003? Do you ever ride it, or just pose for pictures with it by a lake?

I know, I know...you bought it used.

Before I bought my Nomad last July, I briefly owned a 1997 Vulcan 800 Classic that only had 6000 original miles on it! The thing looked like it rolled off the showroom floor and was completely stock! Once I got the carb cleaned it ran like it too! I paid $3100 for it and felt like I stole it. I put 1500 miles on it then sold it for $4000.

I bought it as a commuter bike when gas was hitting $4+ a gallon. It just was not a great bike for two-up riding, hence the upgrade to the Nomad...! It sure was a pretty bike though..

Kris,
I had an '01 Shadow for about a year until I upgraded to the Nomad. She was a great bike...nice looks and ran like a charm. And great gas milage, but as a 750, she was a little small for me and way to small to run two up with anyone but one of my kids on the back. That's definitely not the case with "Scarlett"!!!

I know a guy from the local VROC group here that bought a 1999 Nomad with less than 1000 miles on it a couple of years ago. The original owner bought the bike and then he was diagnosed with a medical condition and never rode it again. The guy that bought it got a really good deal on it, but it had sat for so many years all the seals had to be replaced, it wouldn't hold any fluids.

Rich,
That was one awesome looking Shadow! My brother owns a 2006 1100 Shadow and he loves it.

The "carmel" seat was definitely different, but I liked it. Made it unique, I guess.

I lucked out on my 99 nad as well. I got her last year with 27,000 original and a VERY nice trailer to tow it on. She's got 37,000 now in last than 9 months. Bike and trailer for $2900.00 in Phoenix, AZ

WOW ! great deal Cabby. I haven't seen your trailer but depending on if it's a single or duel axle, the trailer could cost $2900. here where I am.
