Dropped-off the bike...

I have only, just now, reached my 1,000 mile mark on my new bike; so I had to take it in for its inspection. (Before any chatter begins on my mileage; remember I have two machines to ride, and the weather has not been the greatest in the Midwest yet.)

While I was there, I bought a new re-curve windshield. Smoked and only a few inches high.

I also bought short antennas.

I looked for some luggage that will fit the way I want it to on my rack; but that didn't work out too well.

All in all, if the inspection goes well on the bike; I am ready for my annual three-day Memorial-Day trip of riding; and meeting up with Gibby (the one who always goes); and this year Rayski (and possibly with a couple other his friends also).

So far, the weather looks like it will hold-up. If so, then it will be a great-long weekend riding some of the best Midwest roads with some friends who like to ride all-day.

I am looking forward to it...

Hope everything is in order on the new Limited. I am also looking forward to this weekend and I am sure that Ray is too. I have only put 3300 on so far this year. See ya Saturday.

Your room was put in your name when I booked it. I took the liberty of using your credit card for both rooms!

You'll have to connect with Rayski to see what time he plans on showing-up. I am not sure what route he is taking to get there. Hopefully he'll take the back-roads and not the interstate; otherwise he'll miss ⅓ of the riding.

Ray is taking the back roads and plans on getting to Onalaska around 5:00 p.m. I will be coming thru the Mindoro Cut on the way down and getting there around 5:00 also.

I have a Memorial Ride that I will be attending on Saturday starting at 9:30 a.m. that will end around 1 p.m. just north of Wabasha, MN. I will leave from there and take the county roads to Onalaska, about a 3+ hour ride. If I were to take the shortest route it would only be about an hour, but where is the fun in that?

That would be a wasted opportunity, for certain...

Hey Greg, knowing you the way that I do, I am sure you have at least one route mapped out for our Sunday ride. Care to share?

I have thought about it, but thought I would ask your opinion to see what you were thinking.

I am mostly thinking of Ray and his friends who have not been on a lot of the roads I was thinking of. I had in mind a "best of" route, so they can see some of the roads you and I have put together.

I'll put something together and see if you agree.

There are so many choices of route combinations, it is hard to decide. However, I have been on all of these in this order before and it makes for a really nice ride of a mixture of roads.

See what you think. My feelings will not be hurt if you think we need changes to these.

Also, I am not sure what Ray is looking to ride (or his friends if they come along)

These links take you to:

Leg 1: https://goo.gl/maps/MgnKC

Leg 2: https://goo.gl/maps/GV2M2

I realize you will have already ridden Mindoro Cut; but our approach to will be a bit different on CR-S and CR-M (you've been on these); but Ray never was able to make it to Mindoro Cut because of Tim's accident.

Anyway... let me know what you think.

PS: I notice the Leg 1 map link cuts-off taking 162 and diverts us to CR-M. I would take 162 instead of CR-M; so ignore that small section.

Looks good to me, Ray and his friends should have a good time as there are some really good roads on that route.
You're correct, our routes will only overlap for a very short distance on 108.

I noticed both maps changed the routes in some places when using the links... Geez...

Anyway... this is an idea if we want to hit those roads... otherwise we could consider north of LC.

I like the areas that you have chosen, I get to ride the areas north of LaCrosse often and only stray south when riding with you. Good choices.

Okay... I'll put these two legs together for my reference while riding.

Unfortunately, with the POS GPS on the Ultra, I cannot really do long rides as one route. They limit you to nine waypoints per route. Geez... I have nine waypoints getting out of my neighborhood!

For the route, I may just do it the old-fashioned way I have done for years; which is to have my directions in code on a lanyard around my neck for an occasional check if needed. Besides, I have the route practically memorized anyway... and if I get us lost, I will blame Ray.

Lastly, HD called and the bike is finished and ready to go. I was afraid I was going to have another episode like I had with them before the last NCR rally when they didn't get the parts in and the bike wasn't ready. However, that did not happen.

I had a few issues with the bike, I didn't mention here. They are fixed now.

See you in two days, almost to the hour...
