Natchez Ride Update

Saturday, May 29, at LSU is the Bayou Country Superfest. 80,000 people are expected for this event that features Keith Urban, Taylor Swift, Kellie Pickler, and Brooks ans Dunn among others. The reason I point this out is that we may have to do some creative routes thru BR to get out and in. Coming back will be worse, as this thing kicks off at 4:00 PM, so traffic will be as bad as an LSU football game. Last, but not least, they are predicting 40% chance of rain in Natchez for Saturday. As we all know, that could change up or down as the week progresses.

Can't wait. Think the weather will be fine. Chance of late afternoon showers every day this week, but the weekend's lookin' pretty good. Can't complain about that. I've been working every day for over 6 weeks now and I'm lookin' forward to a couple days relaxing on my bike and spending some time with some good friends. Think I'll take the long way down there. Gonna ride 100 miles north to meet Jim and Jimmy and then start riding South. See y'all down there.

Doesn't really matter. Probably the best place would be Lil Dago's. It's on 61 just past the hospital on the left in a shopping center. There is a red and yellow sign that says " Italian Cafe", and you can also see the sign that says Lil Dago's. If you are coming from the Port Gibson direction, it will be on your left. Go to www.lildagos.com, and they have a map, and a sample menu, along with the history of the place.

Hey, Jim, FYI, I passed through Natchez this weekend on my way to Ruston, LA, and was shocked. The eighth wonder of the world, the intersection at the hospital is finally finished. seems like they have been working on it for two or three years. Looks nice. One day, I would like to ride to Vicksburg and take the self guided tour through the battlefield park. There is a real nice Hampton Inn almost across the street. It would be a good trip.

I'd do that trip with you Painless. I've always wanted to visit Vicksburg.

Trip, my daughter lived there for two years. We did a rush tour of the park in our car, but I would like to go back, take some time, and soak it in, so to speak. They even have an Ironclad that was sunk in the Mississippi on display. Very interesting. I'll keep you posted.

Sounds good to me Painless. Maybe we can make that trip in late October? It's about 275 miles for me...which would take me about 4.5 hours. We could all meet in Vicksburg on a Friday evening and stay at the Hampton, like you suggest. View everything on Saturday and go home on Sunday. (Just thinking outloud).

Sounds like a plan to me. The only date I can think of in October that is out for me is October 22. Niece is getting married in Dallas. I'm looking forward to it. We need to keep reminding ourselves, cuz my " Sometimers" ( sometimes I remember, sometimes I don't) may kick in, and I'll forget.

Man, I'd love to make that one. Just 60 miles from me. Vicksburg is where I meet with my Southern Cruiser group. Haven't been in the military park in a few years. It never gets old.

Sounds good to me Jim. My battery is dead as a doornail. Hope it's just the charger I had hooked to it is bad. May have to get a new one before Saturday. That's about my luck.
