Summer Riding

I know everyone here is old enough to know better, but just as a reminder, please stay hydrated while riding. So far down here, we have consistently been under an extreme heat advisory. We have consistently been in triple digits everyday, and topped off with our Louisiana humidity with no rain. It has been a particularly brutal summer so far. We left Baton Rouge at 10:30 AM Saturday to meet our son in Hammond 42 miles away. My temp gauge read 93 on the way over, and 104 on the way home. It was like riding in a furnace. Maggie Valley will be a welcome relief, but getting there, and the ride home are going to be brutal. Stay safe and stay hydrated.

I took a short ride this evening Frank. I purposely didn't ride Saturday because of the heat. Take care.

I didn't ride the entire weekend as the temps have been close to 100. We are averaging about 10 degrees higher than average for this time of year.

Weve only had two days in the 90's so far and they are sticky, usually in the end of July or early August we get a week or two of real hot weather. Thats the time I hide in the basement until evening.

I experienced dehydration after only 40 miles on a near 100 degree day. While riding along I started feeling bad and my thought process slowed down considerably.I stopped and luckily I had a bottle of water which got me by long enough to find a little country store that had Gatorade.I now carry plenty of water and a bottle of Gatorade all the time, not just in the summer.

I bought a Co. Cool Vest last winter. It is going to get tested on my trip to MV. Will also carry and drink lots of water.

I love the riding hot weather. I just got back from my 4th trip of rescuing my buddy with a Harley Eectra Glide. I had to carry him double up back from the harley shop today. They didn't know how to fix his bike so he had to leave it. He has had a lot of bad luck with that thing. Everytime he gets something fixed it breaks again. We told the harley shop if they heard of two guys wrecking on a Nomad that day they were not gay. We couldn't talk them out of a loaner bike. We had a lot of funny looks from people. LOL.

Bobby was that you on the side of the road right at the airport rd exit? We passed 3 bikes there. One was being worked on, and one looked a lot like yours. I only got a glance as we were going 70 in the car lol

No I went with my buddy to the Meridian harley dealer. They were supposed to adjust the computer on his bike but couldn't figure out how to do it. He must have some aftermarket part on it that harley installed. We had to leave it there.
