Don't know Frank. I called his home and cell numbers and left a message on his cell voice mail. I'm sure there is no power and the cell towers were probably taken out.

You're probably right, Mitch. I'm sure it will be a while before he gets power. I just hope he and his family are safe. What a mess up there! There's talk that the LSU-Alabama baseball game scheduled for Tuscaloosa will be played here next weekend.

I was talking with a friend at church this morning about going up there and cooking a 600 plate pot of chicken/sausage/pork jambalaya and white beans. We might do this in the next couple of weeks if he can get the majority of the meat and supplies donated by local merchants. He works for A T & T so we shouldn't have much of a problem coordinating a couple of days of vacation tied to a weekend. Hope we can get it going before the National.

Thanks Frank and Mitch for your concern and thoughts. Just got power on at 12:30 this afternoon. Have been without power since around 6:30 Wednesday afternoon. We had trees down in the yard but as far as I know no damage to the house. Of course we lost everything in the refrigerator and freezer. State Farm called me and had a claim number for me. They sure were good. Guess they called all their policy holders to check on them. I might mention this was without me having to call them. They have really been good to us through the years.

Gene,

That really is good news, my friend. It is great to know that you and yours are safe. It's also refreshing to know that your insurance company is on the ball. Life will be back to normal before you know it. Good to have you back.

Frank

Mitch,

That's a terrific idea. Judging by what I have seen on TV, you would be a hero to those folks. I feel so bad for them, as I know you di.

Once again I want to thank you for your concern. We were very fortunate here. No homes destroyed in my town. A lot of trees down. It will take months to get all the mess cleaned up.

Gene,
We can certainly sympathize with you guys up there. We know just how you feel. At least we have several days before a hurricane hits. Tornados don't give you much warning at all. I know the resolve of the folks in Alabama will get the state up and running as quickly as possible. We are all praying for fatrat45. Hope there is good news soon.

Good to hear you're OK Gene. Sorry to hear about the mess. That rash of tornadoes actually started here in Texas and went your way. I saw several funnel clouds rush by my house.

What I want to know is when will they have a telethon for all those people in the south so that they can rebuild their houses and lives like they do for Haiti and other countries

I'm with you Tom. They can't bend over backward enough to help all the foreign countries but let something happen in the states and nothing happens. Especially if it happens to be in the southern states. Or so it seems to me. Let haiti rebuild and learn to do a few things on their own. Our dollars should be used to help our own. That is just my thought on the matter.
