'02 Drifter

This isn't mine, either.

It's also an 800. I don't think he mentions engine size. Nothing wrong with an 800...

Yeah it is an 800.
The 1500 have visible shocks.
The 800's have a mono shock to give them the hard-tail look.
Our 01 Drifter is an 800 and since I had it converted to belt drive it is a fun bike to ride.

Not at all. They are great bikes for girls.

My first Vulcan was an 800 Classic. Great motor on those bikes, probably the best V-twin they made in terms of reliability.

Well, I had an 800 Classic...to be honest, my friends said I looked like a monkey f'ing a football when I rode it. I got the Nomad after that. Much better ergonomically.

I wouldn't know the differences between the 800 and 1500 Drifters as they've never really been my thing. Still, you don't see many for sale which is why I posted it. Looks like a nice bike. I'm assuming the 800 has a smaller frame than the 1500 so I'd probably look the same as Ponch (although much better looking).

The 800 is a lighter bike. Under 600lbs.

But is the frame smaller? I'm not sure a couple hundred pounds would be enough trade off for 1/2 the displacement although it's been a while since I've ridden something that small (not counting my ex wife, of course).

It's a nice looking bike, even if it's a girls bike.

The 800 won't be much smaller, just less bulky looking. I'd like to get a 1500 Drifter someday. Ive always liked the style of them.

Yes it is, a bit. The engine is lighter too and more bulletproof. It'll rev to 8K rpm too. Big bore, short stroke. Put pipes, scotterize the intake and rejet and they make about 58hp at the rear wheel. I did it to mine and they are quicker than a 1500 for the most part. They don't have the torque, but if you rev the gears out, they will walk away from a 1500/1600.
