That's very encouraging news. Sitting on the bike while it was in a front wheel chock, and upright, I tried to imagine my line of sight with it being 2 inches lower. It was hard to do.

Don't let the windshield height worry you into not buying the bike. There are several methods to achieve your "above the screen" line of sight.
You absolutely want to evaluate the stock shield by lowering it to the bottom adjustment before chopping it though. The line of sight may also change when you decide that the stock seat bites and you install something more comfortable; or supplement the stock with a gelpad or other means.

Ditto on the above info on choke knob.

My bike is a 2006 and I am 6'4". I have the windshield all the way down and I can see about two inches over the top. I have large lowers and when I have the windshield lowered all the way, there is little or no buffeting.

The "diesel" winding down sound when decellerating is common and it reminds me of a jet coming in for a landing. I like it. BnG

I'm 5'6'' and my windshield is all the way down. I normally look over the shield in good posture. When I'm tired and slouching it doesn't matter if I'm lookind thru the bugs as long as I can see something.

Nice expo Trosco.

Newbiw Questions

A big THANK-YOU to all who replied and help sway me to buy this bike. I pulled the trigger on it and am waiting for the title and may be on the road this weekend. I truly appreciate not being flamed for coming onto a forum as a new guy and asking for help. You all seem genuinely interested in promoting the Nomad and w/o these questions answered I would have passed on the bike.
Now I am looking forward to some long distance travel in comfort and style and also keep my Sportster for some around town fun. Soon I will add a pic to my profile and will continue to hang out here with you guys/gals. Again, THANKS!!!

I've never seen anybody get flamed on this forum for asking a question.

Actually, we're all pretty much "new guys" here since this forum was only started a couple of years ago!

So, welcome to the family and ask away. That's why we're all here.

P.S. Congratulations on your new bike. You're going to love it!

Thanks for the info, I wondered about the choke knob as well, but hadn't bothered to ask. I did use it just recently when my bike wouldn't start. I'm still not sure what happened, but it seemed like it wasn't getting any gas so I tried the choke and it was able to start up. I went about 100' and pushed it back in.
I haven't needed it since Sunday and never before either.

In case you don't like the V&Hs, you can get stock pipes pretty cheap since a lot of people take them off and put on V&H.
