Ride to Chapel Hill

OK you northerners. Assuming it's dry, what should I expect for a trip to Chapel Hill Between Christmas and New Year's? Wet definitely keep the bike at home in cold temp's, but what is normal day riding just in case I decide to be brave?

In Charlotte it could be 70 and sunny or 24 and snowing.

Most likey it will be in the 35 low and 55-60 high range.

Chapel Hill could be a lot different. For some geographical reason the I-40 corridir seems to solit the bad weather (north) from the decent weather (south).

Thanks, but I expect to be back in Florida before then - plus it's looking like the temperatures are likely to be much colder than I want to ride in for a 24 hour round trip ride!!

Yeah Jim.....MAS is right...I live about 30 miles for Chapel Hill....it is a crap shoot...could be 60s, could be 30's. You are gonna have to check 10day forecast as it gets closer. If you decide to ride, let me know and maybe we can get together for a few minutes. Even if you don't ride maybe we can.

Smart move !! It would have been fun seeing you do the trip with the foot of snow on the ground :)

It would have been an interesting ride. Of course you would have to of used tire chains to get traction. Any time you are as far north as North Carolina or Tennesse there is a possiblity of very cold weather and even snow. Sometimes that applies to Georgia and Alabama.

well, we got 7-8 inches of snnnnnnoowwww at my daughters in Hillsborough! I didn't see a single bike in the Home Depot parking lot.

Not seeing much countyside from the sofa but it's nice to be with the kids. I'll have to plan a summer trip - Maybe the summer National in Maggie Valley.
