Last Ride of the Year

There is a large "Last Ride of the Year" RTE in Stockton, AL at the Stagecoach Cafe on December 30 every year. Last year, Tamminator and I, along with many of our Long Rider group from here in Central Florida, rode up. It is a huge gathering of riders from all over the nation that comes together to have one last meal together before the New Year. DaBull and his daughter rode up and met us too!

If you are up to it, there is a Trifecta Ride, which is Stagecoach, then Coney Island Hot Dog Stand in Brooksville on December 31 followed by lunch at Sterlings in Astor, FL on January 1. We made 2 of the 3 rides last year (third was to Vero Beach last year but too rainy for me).

Anyone interested can go to the web site listed at the top and join in the fun. We are planning to go up on December 29 and head home after lunch on December 30.

I've lived in Alabama all my life except for my 20 years in the military and never heard of this. Looks like it could be a lot of fun and a chance to meet some great people. I did a Mapquest on it and from my home in north Alabama to Stockton it is 299.5 miles one way. Long ride for that late in the year for me. I just don't do cold very well anymore. Short rides are fine but those long ones get to me.

We stayed in Bay Minette, AL last year. Nice little hotel there that is reasonable for all the riders. It was Winwood Inn. I think the price was around $40 or $50 for the night.

Is there an invitation to join y'all to ride to Stockton together? What time will you be leaving on the 29th?

Jim, I don't know yet. Last year we met the group up in Ocala around 8:00 or 9:00 AM. For you, it would probably mean leave the night before and come this way, then ride up on the 29th.

Has there been anymore planning for the Stockton Cafe yet?

The Long Riders group I ride with hasn't post a KSU time for the 29th yet. Like I said before, we left Ocala around 8 or 9 AM last year from the 326 exit. From there, we went up to Tallahassee for lunch then to Stockton. If you are interested, you can check in over at the Delphi board, Long Riders group. I will post more when I get it.

this is going to be costly for me....Daughter and I will once again make the ride (weather dependent...hey i aint one of those crazies from S.Florida!)....AND Mrs DaBull and the Dangerman will go to Spanish Fort for shopping, meet us in Bay Minnette for the evening...
