Butler Tennessee

Hello all. We have a small plot of land outside Dunlap, but saw something that made us think. Saw a 20 acre parcel near Butler, with a old but livable home, that may work. I am not looking to relocate for work. We like to hike on trails go to parks, lakes, and ride the Nomad (duh!) ect. Just a simple life for us is fine. I hear that Boone NC is 30 miles away so I guess shopping and medical is the best there.
We are looking, like the Dunlap property, for a quiet place to retire in 10 years. this place is bigger so we can put a smaller guest cottage on it as well for family too.
I know it is further north so it definatly gets cooler (snow). No big deal.

Anyone with any info about the Butler area would be appreciated. We just do not know how much more of SE Florida we can stomach. as soon as we can leave, were outta here!

Thanks, Don & Donna

Hey Don, great minds must think alike. I am planning the same thing. This FL crap is for the birds. I can't retire for a few more years...8 or 9 to be exact, but when I'm done, I'm outta here too. I'm looking at TN, NC, North GA (gonna have to talk to Dick and Cliff).

Good morning CoachA.
Donna and I have about 9 - 10 years too. (I can leave in 8 but will not retire before she can)
Like I said, we have a parcel but are keeping our options open. Do you want me to forward you some of the info I get? I have info about SE and am getting info about the NE part as well.
Dunlap (where we have a parcel now) is close to Soddy Daisy and I saw on the Kawanow site the is a member living there. Nice place.

SE florida is getting worse quick; 15 miles north of me, two guys walk into a house, shoot & kill 3 people in cold blood. all kids. Retaliation starts at the school next day and 18 were arrested in school from out of control fighting. next day 400 kids didn't show up. A local police officer said it is just gearing up. And this is just ONE incident. I have had it.

Let me know if you want me to forward stuff.

Bristol would offer more in shopping a hospitals. Bristol is 38 miles away and Boone is 33.

Anyplace is better than PSL, I spent a couple years in Vero and Lakewood Park. And 30 yeras in Boca Raton before that.

Charlotte is a couple hours from Boone and we ride that way a good bit. I would recommend The Lake Lure Hendersonville area.

I'm looking at Charleston as my next destination.

"...I'm just north of you in Murray, KY..."

You're close to real good friends of ours, Robert and Reda Overby. They own Overby's Two Wheel Sound and specialize in J&M helmet sound systems. Stop in when you get a chance and tell them Gregg and Pat Harbison, former Mississippi GWRRA District Directors said hello and wish them a Merry Christams from us, please!

Interesting so many people looking to leave Florida. I found my paradise in Naples, and will probably retire here. A summer place in the mountains would be nice, but after running the numbers, I can't justify a purchase. The cost of year around maintenance, taxes, etc, I figure it would be better to rent. Also, renting doesn't lock me in to a location. Maybe it's NC one year, Maine another, and the Colorado Rockies another. Many beautiful places "up North" to escape the summer heat, but in all my travels, I find Naples works for me. For those on the East Coast of Florida you can have it. SWFLA is my home. :)

NC one year, Maine another, Colorado Rockies another...China another, lol.

I am just tired of 3 seasons...summer, brown season and 2 weeks of winter before summer again for 9 months.
