Discuss the KawaNOW National Rally for 2011...

Has a decision been reached yet?

I'm sorry I love Mo and miss Fred, but as you get older there are certain things you don't do. And camping is now one of them.

There are things ( like having to get up 2-3 times a night) that just don't work with camping.

Think about us old farts.

I know I'm new here, but I think Maggie Valley is a great choice. My wife is from there and we were through there this past weekend. I-40 was experiencing problems so we went through Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge/Sevierville on the way home. Take it from a local, traffic is horrible in these three cities. You have to spend 30-45 minutes just getting out of town for a ride. Maggie is never crowded. They have good restaurants and hotels. There's a couple of leather stores and a motorcycle museum (Wheels Through Time). Plus, they have access to the Blue Ridge Parkway. If you want a bigger city, Asheville is only 25 mins away. Also, Waynesville downtown is nearby and Cherokee is a pleasant ride. There's a local Kawa dealer (Waynesville Cycle) and plenty of medical and other services. Personally, I would like to go somewhere besides my inlaws', but I think you guys would like it.

I'm going to Maggie Valley the weekend of Aug 6-8. If anyone wants to come up and ride.

We'll be riding in about lunchtime and staying at the Applecover.

Derrick has rooms for $40.00 so bring it and let's ride.

I agree with sneedvegas, Maggie Vally is a beautiful area and has everything close by.

We also stayed at the Maggie Valley Inn and Conference Center and it is a very nice place. 99 rooms and a conference center for up to 250 guests.

And this looks like a nice camp ground.

Sarge, Thanks for the compliments on the family. I'm on the go all the time with the kids and other things. I teach 6-9 Special Education, am working on my EdD in Organizational Leadership, pastor a new church plant, and coach middle school football. That's a lot for a fat lazy guy.

How would everyone feel about the Cherokee NC area. Just a few miles from Maggie Valley and for those inclined they have Casino's and plenty of watering holes.

Cherokee sound like a great place. It has a lot of amenities a group our size would need. We are planning on making this our vacaction next year. We now call it "BIKATION". We would also like to make the Biltmore a place to visit either before the rally or afterwards. I am sure that many of the local county/state roads will be great to ride as well. Just let us know the final decision. Have bike & luggage will travel.

Every time I've been in Cherokee it has been crowded and busy.

Do we really want to have our rally in a casino town?

The amenities aren't quite as good as most think. It's a tourist trap.

But you know; whatever.

10-4 on that! I hope we can find a better place than Cherokee.

Does it have to be in NC? If not, look at Townsend, TN.

Does anyone have an est on the size of this Rally? If it not to big, Fontan Village, NC I was once there for a conferance (with 250 others) and found it to be very nice.

Agreed on the crowded, busy, and expensive part of Cherokee.
