It didn't happen on my 99's, but it happens a lot in hot weather on my 06. Even if I pop the cap and close it again, it starts back up in just a minute.

yes and no towering. Your cap isn't venting properly. Mine did it awful. Built up so much pressure that I'd get gas all over the tank if I tried to fill the tank up very far. Pressure would rise and push it out the cap all over the place. Fixed it myself. It's a semi-tedious process of relieving the spring pressure under the cap through disassemling it. If you want to try it go to Gadget's fixit page.

I cut a loop off the spring like BD said and it doesn't whistle anymore.

Mine will whistle and wine a bit when I'm done riding, but I haven't had any problems while riding. The first time I opened it up when the tank was half full, it burped gas all over the place.... Lesson learned there! Now I just hum along if I'm near by!

I went to the Gadget's fixit page to see what i need to do but the drawing is different from what i got. I dissambled the cap and found 6 small springs and put it back together. Do i need to shorten those springs

No, it's 1 spring even further inside. I think the springs you're talking about are the ones that work the lock. From what I remember it's inside the black plastic part with a diaphram covering it. I used Gadget's fix to do it. It's weird when you have it apart and wonder if you can remember how it all goes together. It's a thin tiny spring and I cut only 1 loop off it. Better put your cheaters on so you can see what you're doing.

Just let it whistle. If someone asks about the whistling tell them it is your bike and it is happy to be out on the road.

How about I ring both of your necks!!!.

Just remove the diaphram between the black plastic pieces.

So, being dumb - why does mine puke gas - could the spring be too loose from the factory? Mine both whistle's ( doesn't know the word's) and pukes gas when warm out!
