Chrome Radiator cover

Hi all, has anyone ever had there stock radiator cover chromed??
I was wondering if its a cheaper option than buying one already chromed. There is a lack of Nomad accessories here in the UK and it works out expensive shipping parts from the US.

I've always had a concern those add-on covers could restrict air flow. I'd vote to chrome.

Good Day Ron, I had a set of Airlites chaps on for a year that covered the rad and i'm sure it restricted air flow. I didn have any problems with my bike.

Quite a bit more than the $50 you local chromer quoted you, but should that fall through or you desire a different design, here's a link to an accessory store that ships internationally. I believe they have distrubutorships in Europe.

FWIW, I had an aftermarket radiator cover on my C50T for 2 years with no air flow problems or anything adversely related to the cover.

Best,
Daryl

Hi Daryl

Thanks for the link, looks a good site, added to my favorites :)
All items are shipped from US but they seem very reasonable shipping rates.

I forgot who showed this once before but here's another option than chrome.

Chrome Radiator cover

I couldn't find anybody local to chrome mine, so I went with a $50 "factory second" off ebay. It was missing a mounting tab, so I glued it to the backside of the stock cover with JB weld. I like the way it turned out.

I'll get some pics posted when I get my camera back (my wife has it with her and she's out of state visiting the in-laws).

I think the stock one being chromed would look really good though - Too bad I couldn't find somebody to do it local...

Chrome Radiator cover

So hereby another picture of my OEM radiator cover, when my bike stands in the sun the result is amazing, so I'm very happy with it, The guy from the chromeshop told me that mine cover first has gone in a cupperbath and after that the chrome-layer has got on. (that for a suberb finish)

I wish you all success with your search on good chromeshops.

Greetz Nomadman!
