Down Brother Biker

A good friend of mine was involved in a motorcycle/car accident last Thursday on his way to work. A young 19 year old kid pulled out in fount of him and "Bubba" laid his Road King down and skidded into the grass where his bike then flipped over on him. He's still recovering in the hospital today suffering from 4 broken ribs, a collapsed lung, and internal bleeding. The surgeon had to remove his spleen, and a tracheotomy was performed to prevent his lungs from filling up with fluid during the operation. He's in bad shape but considering the circumstances and the little progress he's made,I know in my heart he's going to pull through.

He provided me with a lot of humor, and conversation while I was recovering from my accident last month. Now it's my turn to return the favor. I'm going to let him recover for a week or so first.

I would appreciate prayers and well wishes for this first class guy who loves to ride as much as I do. His lovely "Tough as Nails" girlfriend Tammy is also understandably devastated, and need our support.

Thanks a lot and y'all please ride careful out there.

If your buddy is pretty rugged he will be fine.... I have no spleen anymore myself for the same thing. he ain't still bleedin that spleen did it... He will be less ill than before with out it..

Now the ribs are no fun, so go tell him jokes, because he needs to breath a lot, It friggin hurts but he needs to.

I was just taped up from surgery, but I was skinney and still am skinny... He may be stapled or stitched, and pillow will help him hold himself together.

If he isn't on a breathing tester he should be.. This is not a breathing machine to assist him breathing IN, it is a machine that shows how much he can breath in....

A candy stripper can show him how to and that should be ammusing..

I had more ribs than that busted and other bones beside these...

The ribs hurt like hell and will make him stiff, but as soon as the docs say he can be walikng he needs to get at it.... he needs to do lots and lots of breathing, the ribs need it and so do the lungs, too much shallow breathing will bring on many other problems including walking pneumonia. Now that with busted ribs is really no fun!

I do send my prayers, but this guy isn't the first guy to get all bashed up this way.. neither was I..

In my day those dammned doctors went and put on Benny Hill! OMG did that hurt, but that dude sure was funny...

Thanks y''all. It's amazing how close you feel to somebody you work with for the past ten or so years when an event like this happens. He and I moved to NC from GA 5 years ago, so his family is up here to see him now. I gave them the last few days to visit him and I think I'll go see him today, if his mama is OK with it. ;)

He's tough enough but he might not be as big as you. He gets in a wreck and nearly kills his self and will spend a few weeks in the hospital. Me on the other hand, I wreck and three days later I'm raising hell with the supervisor about why I can't come back to work with a walking cast. I have this layer of shock absorbing material around me, thicker around the abdomen to protect essential organs. That and God pays particular attention to idiots. If it weren't for that I'd been dead 25 years ago!

Whatchu talkin' "as big as me"? I was 160 pounds then and am 150 now... Never been 160 since, and I figure that spleen must weigh 10 pounds..

I get down to 145 in summer, and top out at 155 if i get lazy in dead winter after fire wood is in.

Yes I was in ICU for 3 days, and in hard core care 10 more before i got my panities in a knott and signed myself out, but if yer pal is rugged he will recover, and maybe he will ride again...

I am not tryin to be a wise ass, I am tryin to prove it can be done.

Since 1979 and now a lot of things have changed. I smoked before than and still do now, but now I am trying to kill myself smoking, to be out of the way. This fast lane life wants no one like me any more, and I am smoking just as fast as I can to get out of the way but some things just take time

Probably the only ones around here I am any bigger than, is the women!

'Ave yee been payin attention to that man behind the curtains again?
