1700 vs. 1600, 1500 performance

Curious if anyone with a new Nomad that upgraded from a 1600 or a 1500 Nomad can tell us all what the difference is in power and handling. The local dealer where I bought my bike had 2 1700 Nomads and 1 Voyager and they are all sold already. They only had the Voyager for about a week.

Goose,

You are right. Nomadwest, you will instantly feel more power by just taking your bike to get painted black will give you 10-15hp more.

The good thing about black and red is that you get the best of both worlds, speed AND looks.

The red parts don't seem to detract from the black speed at all.

You poor dis-illusioned souls.

EVERYONE knows that the Green/Silver is absolutely the fastest and gets the best mileage as well.

I don't think asking a new owner will give you the information you are looking for. Once you drop a lot of $$$ on a new bike, it's gotta feel better than the old one, or you just screwed yourself.

Magazine test show more HP and torque for the 1700, and I trust those numbers. If someone paid $600 for a new exhaust, they feel all kinds of new HP... whether the dyno shows it or not :)

Bob the Yellow Jacket is correct. The green ones are fastest, and just like New Hampshires State Police Interceptors!

I had a 1500 and have a 1600, and just can't see much of any power difference. I doubt the 1700 has any.

Both of these Nomads had V&H baggers, the TFI and Cadman kits, with the hose monsters gone... I got a few miles in on the 1500 in the 361 days i owned it before it was stolen, just riding to Cal and Back east, and with in 45 days after the theft got the 06 I have now..

The 01 was better in highway stability than the 1600 is, but the 1600 is better in parking lot manouvering. That was a built in thing by the factory.

Nomads that are only "half black" are only "half fast".

Kawasaki did a very comprehensive study on the fastest colored Nomads . The study covered all years of Nomads.

It was determined Red/Beige was fastest ....that is why they reintroduced the Red/Beige Nomad in 2009 and the dyno backs up the numbers it is also why they charge more for this color than the black!!!

Sorry, facts don't lie.
