4th Gear Vibration...?

Hi all,

Engine and trans 2005 1500 FI with 28K. Forth gear started reverbing "RRRRRrrrrrrRRRRRrrrrrrRRRRRrrrrrr...." at all speeds and fifth gear feels like just a little more constant vibration, hardly noticeable, but seems a little more than before (or I'm just getting paranoid?). First thru third is just fine.

Drifter has about 100K but I replaced mechanical/electrical with a 12K wrecked Classic FI a few years back. The old tranny was getting weird in 2nd and the engine blew 400m from home in '19.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I'd like to thank you guys for directing me to the U joint.

Ordered a replacement joint and THEN I saw the condition of my axel... The wobbly U joint beat it up pretty good. Surprised that it all didn't come apart on me! I ordered a used replacement shaft with the joint on E-bay and when I received it, it looked darn near NEW. Sent the replacement U joint back.

Riding vibration free again! Thanks again!

Ride safe. Harry
