Who's going to put on the clinic?

Now with all these audiovox cruise controls among us, who's going to put an installation clinic on at the Natl Rally?

The ride home would be so much nicer. :)

I would think you'd already have installed the cruise control before the trip to the rally.

I'll be installing mine right after Christmas. I'll let you know how it goes.

I will gladly donate the bike & controller for the demonstration. Only BlownDodge has to be the instructor. I allow only Master mechanics do work on my bike.

Darn it, you beat me to the volunteering of the bike.

Who's going to put on the clinic?

I have my install started. Gutted the side box, made the vacuum canister. Mounted the servo. I'm waiting for help to remove the fuel tank. I'll need my engineer friend to help do the wiring. I'll do the work, but I don't read diagrams and wouldn't know where or what to cut and splice to.

Removing the fuel tank is easy. It's easier if it isn't full. I was surprised, when I removed mine to do my rewiring project, I had maybe 1.5 gallons in it and it was remarkably light when I lifted it. The tank doesn't weigh much by itself.

Not enough time today..... tank is siphoned dry so it should be quick by what you say Scott.

Stupid question time: If the tank has gas in it when you remove the hoses, aren't you leaking everywhere? You plug the holes, what?

By the way, I'd LOVE to see this done at the rally clinic - even just a walk-thru of one already completed.

Good question, but no. The fuel line connection from the pump has a fitting on it that seals when disconnected. The other 3 smaller diameter hoses are just vent/emission hoses I believe.

One caveat - the 3 smaller hoses have flaky little hose clamps on them, and you need to squeeze them and slide them back to remove the hoses. These little clamps can and will slip down the hose toward the engine. Mine did, and I couldn't get my big paw down to where they were to slide them back up. Put a piece of tape or something on the hoses to keep the clamps from sliding down on you.

Great post Scott!
I didn't know the fuel line sealed off.
I will be removing the tank tomorrow, and you just know my clamps would have done just that, slide down to where they couldn't be reached. One of those things you wouldn't think about till it's too late.
Thanks....and thanks for asking it

Learn from my mistakes, Rick.

BTW, I'm going to try to retrieve them when I install the cruise control.

BTW, I think CJ is going to do a demonstration at the Rally on his trailer. Redeye, if you would like to do a demonstration on the cruise control, I'd appreciate it. CJ can back you up, if needed.
