Cleaning Throttle Bodies

Well I tried the Lord Brad suggestion on cleaning the throttle bodies. I used Seafoam and a tooth brush to brush them. Then I spray Gumout carb cleaner through both for 10 times. The warm idle did go up somewhat afterwards. So I reset warm idle down a tad. I get LESS popping on decleration(with NO marble now) and better go thur the gears. I hadn't cleaned mine in 2 yrs. I have run Seafoam thur the gas but could not feel any diff. I did a 150 mile run this morning BEFORE all this cleaning and i got exactly 42 mpg with 1 up riding. I was happy about the mpg. And that was running with an Airlites chaps, might get a little better without it and the new cleaning.

Ride easy

hold the throttle open so the butterflied are horizontal and dip your toothbrush into the seafoam and scrub both sides of the butterflies. then start the bike up and shoot your favorite brand of carb cleaner down the injector with the throttle wide open. It won't rev too high because of all the carb cleaner drowning out the air but hit both injectors with a full blast several times like doc did! Do this 3 times a year and your bike will always feel crisp and you won't have that occasional "funny idle" Nomads seem to get for no reason!

Cleaning Throttle Bodies

Stupid question #14 from newbie Daryl:

Is this Seafoam cleaning routine recommended for carbureted bikes only? or for FI also? I know it's probably a "dupid" question, but I'd rather ask now and have the stuff available for when/if I need it down the road. I'll also check the idle rpm's at delivery next Tuesday.

Thanks!
Daryl
