Checking rear tire pressure

We all know how great our saddlebags look and love the fact that they are sturdy and solid. That being said, checking rear tire air pressure sucks when you want to make sure you're at the correct psi.

I don't have a compressor at home, so I have to go to the nearby gas station for air. (hate paying 50-75 cents for damn air!)
What is the easiet way you have found to reach under and check and then fill 'er up?

I get my air for free.....do it myself but that's not the point, is it. I would think there is some type of extension you could connect to the valve to make it a bit easier but I think it'sgoing to be a hassle regardless.

I have the long trucker's tire guage, but it's still a pain finding the perfect spot, getting on the ground so I can get to the valve and hoping like hell I don't burn myself on hot tailpipes, unless I'm wearing gauntlets.

YES, gadgets page has all the quick fasteners stuff. i just line up the front valve stem next to the ground and that tells me my rear valve stem is near the ground and lay down and all that stuff. Its a pain in the a** for sure.

To make it more bothersome, I've been told the tires should be cold ( sitting still for 2 hours)

Exactly KM! I read somewhere to put 2 psi more than is recommended when the tires are warm, but it sucks getting down there and dodging the pipes.

Its a pain to check for sure, I think when I replace my rear tire Im going to turn the valve stem around so its pointing on the high side when the bike is leaning on the sidestand, this should make it a little better.

I just stretch out on the ground and reach under the saddlebags. Doesn't need air very often. I use a bicycle pump if it needs air. Not a big deal, but I also plan to try and turn the valve the other way.

Well, I began the search for the t-bolt and it was also a long drawn out pain in the ass. The day turned out to be interesting though. I rescued 3 dogs that got out of their yard, stopped a car from rolling back into another car, found a great little (like Nico's head little) drive in with huge double meat, double cheese heartache special burgers and found some bike parts places I didn't know existed.

In the end I ordered the parts I needed from the link on gadget's page and am waiting for them to come in. All in all it was a very interesting day. Even found a harley parts place with more stuff than the harley stealership including two old german shephards who were sweeter than the people who work at most stealerships. Funny thing was, the owner told me they have only gone to 4 people before I walked in. Guess they know class (nomad rider) when they sniff his shoes.
