Broken Choke Knob
I'm riding a 2008 Nomad and I know this is Fuel Injected so I don't really have a choke. But, there is a knob on the left side of the bike that acts like a choke. I have pulled this knob out during cold starts and it seems to help get the bike to have a higher idle until it warm s up. The plastic housing recently broke and it has made the pulling this cable out much more difficult. My question 1) How hard is it to fix this? I'm not much of a fixer upper. 2) Should I even bother with fixing this?

Get some Throttle body cleaner and toothbrush and clean the butterflies and Throttle body. A lot of times doing that brings your idle up to the point you would have to turn the idle down

Use some JB Weld to glue the knob back on if you can, and lube the cable so it slides easier. And do what Rasta said.

You can also get a chrome choke knob that goes over the old one.....whoop up some JBWeld, slap on that new knob after cleaning your throttle body.....
Knob can be had on Amazon.....

My threaded plastic tube that mounts the knob/cable to the frame broke last year, I picked one up off ebay for less than $10, and just replaced the whole thing. Here's a few of them.

Ahhh, the joys of living in AZ. No need for a choke knob so I buried it to hide it and mounted my oil breather in it's place.

+ 1 Just replaced it on my 2003 1600, like $8 off ebay. All it is is a cable operated roller that pulls back on the butterfly throttle the slightest bit, thus increasing the RPM by a few hundred for warm-up.

Going to just leave it as is for now.
Thank you all for your insight. I believe I'm just going to leave it as is for right now. Its not really a choke anyways. Bike seems to start in 30 degree weather without using this knob. Some day I may replace it if I feel it is necessary.
