I’ve already volunteered to go down and ride it for him while he’s waiting for time off from work. I’m that good of a friend, lol

Come on down. I will leave the key in it for you. Got the mufflers off waiting on the V&H with the ECU to finish it up. Tire store in Decatur will remove the rear tire and reinstall for $40 dollars plus the $20 to mount and balance it. I'm gonna let them do it. My jack just barely covers the frame wideth. The smallest movement and the bike hits the floor. Need to replace the rails to make then longer to cover the frame wideth.

I had to grind the small bits of bar off the end of each of the rails on my lift so I had enough length to fit the frame... Even then I needed to be extremely careful placing it under the bike before I lift, and check twice on the way up. I wanted to lengthen the rails like you're considering to start with... But now I guess I've had the bike long enough that I've gotten comfortable with it right on the edge of the rails like that. I've never gotten around to fixing it, and rarely strap it all down properly.

A couple of times it's tipped either forward or back while I've had the bike up, and needed a fast lowering procedure. My lift has gotten a bit twisted & sloppy under the strain as a result, but I've had no major topple off it yet, fortunately.

For major surgery like front end removal - I've been known to hook some straps into the rafters in my garage as well, just to balance things up.

I lengthened my HF lift with some 1/4 flat steel. Much more at ease.

Now that’s what I’m talking about! That would work . I’m also going to put a small bolt protruding up on the handle side of the flat metal so that I can just push it under and when it touches the frame I know I’m in the right spot.

I did the same thing with my Canadian Tire motorcycle jack.
The stock jack worked fine on the Nomad but the chassis rails on the Voyager are father apart.

When I take out either wheel I put wood under the other wheel to stop the bike from tipping backwards or forwards and only have one wheel out of the bike at any one time.

Haven't gotten to ride the beast but just for a 10 minute ride after the reflash. I took off work Monday afternoon for a few hours to get the rear tire replaced, tag and insurance taken care of. The guys at the tire store that does motorcycle tires all the time didn't have the belt tension gauge and he didn't torque the nut on the axle. I told him the torque the nut on 80lbs. He used a long pull handle. I went off on the young guy...........Enough said on that. I ordered the 10 pound belt gauge. Set the belt and torqued the nut myself Friday night. I didn't think I was ever going to loosen the nut. Anyway, Loved the power on the Ivan's reflash but I am going to wrap the baffles in the new V&H slip-ons with stove rope. Finally got a weekend off this year and it has rain the whole time. BUT I can say the seat and my azz don't like each other at all!!! Got to get the RDL upgrade.

Bad thing is I'll always compare it to my 1500. The seat and backrest are perfect for me.

I did give the Voyager a name though. I call it "OVERTIME". That's what I bought it with, bought the tires with, and did the Ivan's flash and the V&H slip-ons with. It will do the RDL upgrade also.

I have a RDL with a Grasshopper - sent them both off and they recovered everything.

My seat goes to them for June 8th production date. Having them add their backrest to the seat and moving me back as far as possible.

A men Brother, I still do too. After Ivans its a fair comparison though.

I wanted to remind you that if the shop was that bad You may want to look at the lines on both sides of the rear adjustment for the belt to make sure they are the same on both sides. A whole thread was used on the subject last year.

I bought a tension gauge and did it myself. Should be good now.

I took the 1700 riding this past Sunday. 200 miles worth. With a calculator, pump reading, and the odometer I averaged 32 mpg on 93 octane. Bike digital meter said 34.3. The same roads the 1500 gets 41 mpg on 87 octane per same method.

3 year transferable factory warranty with an option to buy a 3 year extended warranty. Of Corse you loose a little coverage after so many months and after so many miles.
