I have a Clearview with louver vent on my ST1300. The shield has a hairline crack around the screw. Easy to over tighten.

I don't think the louver vent is worthwhile. 100 degrees is hot regardless and I don't find the air flow that noticeable. It allows a little rain as well.

Next time I will skip the vent and order the cat eyes. You need one or the other so you don't get back pressure on your helmet.

Thanks to recumbentbob, mbarr10 and peg for the information. Good tip on the adding weather stripping for rubbing and squeaking. Never new the recurve was extra. To schoeney what is exactly the cat eyes?

the two vents on the sides, shaped like cat eyes.
PRV Vents
• Reduces Low Pressure/Vacuum Behind Shield • Improves the Airflow/Reduces Back Pressure • Located Low and to the Right and Left Sides PRV Trim (Available for Purchase) • Rubber Trim Diverts Water Around the Vent • Gives the Vents a Sporty, Finished Look

Checked it out with Clearview. It isn't offered in the Kawasaki vaquero/voyageur style of windshield

I got the short windshield with the recurve and tinted grey. I didn't order the vents as I am not sure about the rattling at low speeds mbarr10 had talked about in an earlier post and the stories about the bugs sneaking threw. It will be certainly better than what I have now. Had it shipped to Pembina for pickup this weekend with a few other goodies I had previously ordered. Shipping to Canada is really expensive with the duty and such.

Oops. Guess I was slow to respond about the cat eyes. Sorry.

Plumber63 nailed the answer and gave a perfect explanation. Thanks.

With a short shield I do not think you will miss or need a vent. I really like it on my mid sized shield though.

Thanks for the reply mbarr10. I took the small one because my stock shield is 8 inches. Hope it is high enough. I am only 5'8" so I think it may fill the bill.

A lot of comments in here about back pressure and head wobble from the turbulence created from the windshield. Curious, do you guys complaining about this still have the stock height windshield? I am 5’9” and don’t have that issue with the stock windshield, I also really like being able to look through the windshield.....unless it is raining. Take the water build up on the windshield and on my glasses and it is absolutely horrible to see anything!! I have yet to put any sort of plastic safe rainx on my windshield (or glasses) to see how that improves things, Love it on my cars windshields. On my Volusia I put the tallest windshield I could get for it and I STILL ended up looking over it, lots of head wobble and buffeting with that.

Height and the recurve on the Clearview shields is a combo that can not be beat. For Me, Looking over just a bit and the recurve puts rain over your visor at highway speeds. No windshield wipers on my bike yet, so it works great. At 5' 10" Looking thru my old Volusia shield Sucked. Light refraction at night and rain on the shield. And the light on the tank gauges reflected onto the shield so bad I had to tape it off to see clearly at night. "PEG" swears to only wipe a shield up and down to reduce the refraction, I am trying it. Usually he is right about things.

The back pressure is not much, but it is an annoyance. I would not say a distraction but an annoyance. If you run the stock shield you should not get a head wobble since you have a constant blast of air that never lets up and just pushing and pushing and pushing. I hate that.

Take it all with a grain of salt since, I do not like the windows down in my truck because the wind bothers me. I think it is the one sidedness of the wind. but it does bother me. And you are not the only one that thinks that I am weird.
