The Multistrada, Triumph Explorer, Honda Crosstour, Kawasaki Versys 1000 and others all come with cast wheels and are street oriented. They are upright sitting bikes with wide bars. They definitely don't fit into the "sport" touring category. Recently Ducati introduced a Multistrada Enduro with wire wheels. The triumph Explorer also has a version with wire wheels called the XC. Kawasaki doesn't make an offroad version of its adventure bike but I have seen videos of brave men riding them offroad.

I totally get that. I love my Vaquero the torque, roominess and comfort, but my other ride is my '04 ZZR1200C Ninja and it is what takes care of my frequent "need for speed" and gets the job done very nicely. Always nice if you can have an alternative ride for other days.

The Connie and the FJR were on my radar when I replaced my LT. But I found a RT that had all the creature comforts that I wanted (cruise control, heated grips, heated seat and RDL seat). I would have had to add too much to a Connie or FJR but they are both still high on my list.

The Connie is a sweet bike. Like most bikes you can mod it to be a more neutral riding position.
Smooth too. Don't underestimate its handling ability. It may not be at the top of its class but most all Sport Touring bikes out handle the best of the cruisers/baggers in the twisties and sweepers. The extra power is safer for passing and merging. It is addicting. If MaKaw ever puts factory cruise on it I will be all over it. Good luck in your hunt. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk

Well, it looks like I bought another Meanie.
I placed a bid about 10 days ago for one on ebay. I expected my bid to be eclipsed rather quickly. So, I get an email last night from ebay, I won the auction. If the auction is legit, I now own a 2004 1600 MeanStreak with 40000 on the clock. It looks to have been sitting for some time. The paint has seen better days and the seat is missing. The winning bid was $667, shipping will be right at $600. So for about $1300 I'll either have another MS project or a parts bike. When I bought the 03 MS last year I was looking for a donor bike to take the front forks and wheel off to put on my Nomad. Maybe I'll put the front end on the Nomad and throw a pair of 1500 MS cams in the engine and put it in the Nomad. Or put it in good running order and flip it. Or who knows, but the Connie will have to wait for a while, I'm out of room.

"The Nomad is more like the heavy set girl..." Damn right! If you drop her you better have some help nearby to get her back upright!
