Waving Another new guy

I just wanted to make introductions as a new guy from Northern California. I just purchased a 2017 Vulcan Vaquero last week. This is my 90th motorcycle in 44 years of riding (I used to work in a pawn shop and the owner let me get whatever I wanted, just had to give him 500.00 profit on each I purchased from him and went through bikes like crazy). I ride about 15,000 a year on my three bikes (2006 Yamaha Roadstar, BMWR1200GS Adventure and the new Vaquero). My last bike a Goldwing F6B was just a poor fit. At 6'3" the cramped shifter location and my size 15 boots just didnt get along. I have been looking at the vaquero since they came out but never pulled the trigger. After my favorite local dealer offered me what I thought was a great price for the F6B and an even better OTD price on a 17 Vaquero I pulled the trigger. At 800 miles in a week I pulled the ECU and shipped it to Ivans for a flash this morning. I hope its as great as everyone says it is. I will ad to the Ivans thread after it gets back.

Welcome from the smokey Pacific NW.. Northern California.. How north?
I'm going to show your post to my cousin. He likes to have a new/different bike about every 18 months.. He'll be TOTALLY jealous at your 90 motorcycle record, not to mention having 3 at once time.. I love to watch him squirm. LOL! I understand and sympathize with your comments about not fitting a motorcycle. I'm 6'5" and have issues with fit also. I ride with a large group of Goldwing riders. Their always telling me I need to step up to a Wing, from my Nomad. I've sat on them. The fairing is just too close to my knees. No thanks.. Besides, I'm not a big fan of all that plastic body work. I like a ride that looks like a motorcycle. Call me old fashioned.

Anyway, enough of all that. Welcome aboard. Hope to see more of your post's. Definitely report back on the Ivanizing, once you get your Vaquero back on the road.

Welcome from another Northern California member!

Checkout Chuckster's extended brake and shift arms. I worked with him on these for my Voyager and they are a great item.

Welcome to the forum !!! I just bought my first Vaquero just over a month ago and one of the very first things I did was Ivanize it . Best decision I could have made . More power , much smoother and a little bit better on the fuel economy .

Hope you enjoy the new Vaq !!!

Thanks for all the replies, I have been stalking this forum for quite a while. I have had 3 kawasaki vulcans in the last decade. A 1500 drifter, a 2005 vulcan 2000 and now the Vaquero. Even with all the bikes I have owned over the years I always end up back on a Kawasaki of some sort. My days of supporting the motor company are over I think as my experiences with four Harley twin cam engine failures at fairly low mileage just killed my enthusiasm for the brand. While the Goldwing F6B was a wonderful bike it just didnt fit and my old Road Star was more comfortable .I am fortunate to live in the eastern part of Shasta County with lots of great riding through most of the year. If anyone is going to be up this way for big bike weekend in october shoot me a message and we can meet up for one of the rides scheduled during the event.
