Tomk meets BD!!

Met up with Tomk today on a ride at the beach! Beautiful ocean view most of the way and cool sunny skies!!

Tom is yet another one of God's tall stacks of shiit! Where are all these tall Nomads owners coming from? I'm almost 6'2" and feeling short! We have some large piles in our group!!!

BTW Tom's Black 2006 Nomad is beautiful in person! Nico if your V&H's sounded like his I'd would have been impressed. His bike sounds like a very deep yet well muffled Harley. I could live with the noise if it was no louder than that! You could feel the sound in your body but not in your ears! Real tough sounding.

He also has the K&N on the right side, removed the crossover tube and nothing on the left side and it sure looks tidy!!!!

Tom is also a safe and good rider. He down played his experience but he's no clown in the saddle. He will be fun to ride with up to Mesquite!

Thanks for a fun ride Tom!!

Pics will follow...

Tomk meets BD!!

It was really great meeting Brad after talking to him for months. As he mentioned, the ride was really nice along the coast. Lots of sun and not too hot. The view was great all around. Saw a lot of $200K plus cars as well as a bunch of boats in the sea too.

I like riding with people who don't surprise you (as I'm sure everyone else does) and BD's one of those who's very smooth and the experience shows. No surprises -- not a twitch! We're going to have a great ride to Mesquite and I hope all of the folks around this side can get together with us.

I did get to hear that Scala Rider blue tooth of his and I'm really impressed with that thing. You can't tell he's riding a bike at all. Sounds normal -- like a cell phone. I just have to make one fit on my half helmet and make sure I pay attention while using it. I don't want to ride into something while talking away.

I think I have him almost convinced to hack off his left side intake -- almost. EIther that or he was just being nice!

Thanks for the ride today Brad!

BTW I think since the Nomad dwarfs most harley's I think it scares most the shorties away

Hey BD, If those V&H baffles were recently repacked then they do sound pretty good. When most of the 'stuff' comes out is when they get louder and more annoying.

Nope, never repacked them. I did some work on the baffles because they were too annoying and gave me a headache after a while.

I welded a thin 3 1/2" diameter stainless steel drain cover with a bunch of 5/16 diameter holes in it to the inside of the baffles.

Interesting solution, tomk. Don't suppose you have a picture you could post, or maybe more details?

That's great guys....glad you two got together and had a nice ride. Buck and I were riding with you too, just 4000 miles away in NC. It was about 65 here yesterday with bright blue skies...nice spring day to ride!! So far, anyone I have met in person on a Nomad is a good rider and a good person...seems like a trend to me!!!

Dang, I'm only 5'7". I'm feeling inadequate already. LOL, I've been told I am by three wives so it must be true.

Buckeye -- The next time I pull the baffles out, I'll take a pic.

But for more details: If you pull out the baffle, it looks like perferated tube that has large ends on it. On the inner end, I covered the openning with the drain cover baffle and put 4 small tack welds to hold in place.

The drain cover has a bunch of holes in it and let's the exhaust go through.

I don't think that I explained this very well but of you PM me, I'll go into it as much as I can.

It does sound very tough Tom! That's Nomad ingenuity... Tom BTW saw me coming down the highway before I pulled off and he told me the bafflectomy was working!
