Margaritaville Route

I will start the ride out of Antlers OK on Hwy 271 south to Hwy 82 east to Texarkana. Hwy 71 south out of Texarkana to Shreveport and pick up I 49 south to Lafayette LA onto I 10 to Pensacola Fl. In Pensacola we will pick up Hwy 98 and wind along the gulf to start some sightseeing. We will stay on Hwy 98 to Perry Fl where we will pick up Hwy 27 to 247 to Lake city and pick up Hwy 100 to Starke to Hwy 16 to St Augustine where we will spend at least a full day to explore a wonderful city. Now from here the route can take many directions depending on what you all want to visit, such as Daytona Beach, Kennedy Space center or Kissimmee which has numerous attractions and a great car show and cruise every Friday night in Old town. So I guess from here we need to pick what else we want to see, lets make this a trip to remember as it is a bucket list trip and a trip of a lifetime

Vic, If you look at I-10 between Baton Rouge and New Orleans, you will notice where it passes just North of Grammercy, LA. That is 30 miles North of my home. We will more than likely meet up with you a few miles East of there at Laplace, LA.

Sounds like a plan, I am thinking about taking I 12 across in order to cut out the traffic of New Orleans, in that case you could meet us in Hammond

Sure could Vic. It's only about 1 1/2 hours from home heading up I-55 from Laplace. I could also meet you in Slidell where I-12 meets I-10 NE of the lake. Either way is good depending on time of day.

Not quite yet Bill, it will be a very easy pace, but we will work out the details as we progress

I am a little confused. Is the trip to Margatitaville ending in central Florida or are you going the 450 miles further to actually go to Key West?

The plan is to go to Key West. I think Vic is just saying that St. Augustine is the first place we will visit. Exactly where to go in between there and Key West is whats still up in the air.

If Charlie joins us, he will probably set a new record on distance traveled on a Nomad. Talk about cross country!

If you want to do some FL riding away from the east coast at leisurely pace, let me know. I know a ton of the roads from St. Augustine down through the middle of the state that will get the group away from the major metro areas and down toward Key West. Once south of I-4, the roads get very boring...as in straight and flat, lane changes are needed to simulate curves.

When Ilived in Vero I used to enjoy riding 27 & 17. Just out in the middle of nowhere.

But there are many others.
