new norn

I bought a horn I belive off a yamaha because it is alot louder than the the on my vaquero. It was a maching set one on the other side and i liked the looks of it and was way louder than stock. I went to the trouble of mounting it in the same spot but when I hooked it up it was no neer as loud. And when i put the orignal horn back on it as not the same loudness after useing it a bit it is back to factoy loudness. I would like to use the other horn do I need to use a resistor on the new horn. If so how big and where do I put it at. Can any one help me

Check their isn't an adjusting screw, some horns have a screw that you can turn in or out to adjust the tone and loudness. Usually on the back.

That screw will only affect tone, and I wouldn't mess with it. Especially if you're using both horns. You will knock them out of tune, and probably not like the results.

I had a bike in High School where the horns were out of tune to each other. The result is a horrible (although attention grabbing) warble of battling sound waves, like a middle-school marching band.

I mounted the Wolo Bad Boy air horn on mine, original location, but for full volume it has to have a dedicated hot wire from the battery. Otherwise, no full volume. You may have a similar issue. Add to that, I also use a relay so that I do not burn out my horn switch.

The horn on the Honda VTX Fury is really really loud! I had it and startled quite a few unsuspecting friends. :)

I prefer the Stebel air horn myself. Super loud and does act as a real attention getter!
