Gadget Nomad Bags Locked Mod.. ?

Thinking about doing gadgets bag mod and for those of you that have done it I'm a little confused about his last statment #8. " BTW, you can now turn the lock from the 'unlocked' to 'locked' position without using your key". How is this accomplished?
Also for those of you that have done the mod; are you pleased with the results.. THANKS in advance!!!!

I've never done the mod, but the latch mechanism is a real bear to work on.

I have not done the mod either but for some reason I can unlock my bags and remove the key. Then I can use the bags unlocked with out the key.
I just read that statement and am not sure you guys will understand.
I can open and close my bags without the key if I unlock them then remove the key.

i did my right bag a couple of years back. Really do like being able to just open the bag without digging out the key.

means that when unlocked and key removed you can use anything (finger nail, coin, etc) to turn the lock back to the locked position. Then you will need the key to reopen.

I am a big fan of not needing the key to do everything. I made a key knob for the gas tank. I leave it in the gas cap all the time and it looks like knob, just turn it to open the cap. Did I say I hate to have to dig into my pocket for the key. Chuckster made me a HD switch mount for the Phatt II risers so that I don't have to have that key out either. It works just like the 05 and newer Nomad, up top and can be turned without the key.

I've done the mod, like opening the bags without the key. Haven't tried to lock them without the key, but I would assume you could stick anything in the hole to turn it back to a locked position. That's how it is with my trunk - unless it's turned all the way to the locked position, I can use a screwdriver/kinife or anything to turn the lock and open it up.

Nope, I bought the bike new and have not had the mod done.

I did it last year and I'm glad I did. Just have to be very careful when you do it or you can ruin the lock altogether. Just takes a little time and patience.

I done the mod also and I appreciate the fact that I don't have to use the key anymore, unless I decide to lock them.

I really enjoy not having to find my key to unlock when I need in the bags. I have the 1600 and hardly ever use the key anymore. I now keep a spare in my wallet, since I went for a ride and still needed the key for fuel and found out I forgot to bring it.

Nope, I bought the bike new and have not had the mod done.
