10 minutes riding "with" the Skeleton Crew MC.

This past Saturday I was heading home from a friends house when I passed through a small town that an establishment hosted a biker club party. I rode out of town on the 2 lane road with no concerns. A few minutes later I check the mirrors and find 8 riders behind me. There was traffic ahead and oncoming, so they had no chance to pass. There was no attempt to muscle past me for 2-3 miles. It was surreal as they were close enough to me for me to be "part of the group". The traffic ahead turned off as "we" approached a stop sign. In my opinion, I had one choice if there was no cross traffic at the stop sign. Don't stop. I ran the stop sign as if it wasn't there, followed by "the rest of the group". Still the leader of the pack, traffic again prevented any attempts to pass. Another stop sign was up ahead. Some slowing was needed to allow traffic to proceed. Again, a full stop was not an option. "We" ran that stop sign as well. The road turned to 4 lanes and the group behind me was able to pass. No gestures were exchanged as they passed. They will likely keep the story of a Kawasaki leading to themselves. (or make something up). I did not feel intimidated at all, and running the stop signs was the only way to to keep my position. (and my pride)

Well, I figured they would probably not stop, (which they didn't)
Stopping may have been dangerous as they were very close. And, it felt good! ;)

Heck, you're as good as "patched in" now!

I think I'd have pulled to the side and waved them past.

I've never had that happen. I've had other riders come up behind me but they either kept a few bike lengths distance or passed me by. I've moved over and waved other riders to pass me if they seem to be in a rush. Some pass and some don't. I always keep a little distance when coming up on another rider. Just feels like the right thing to do IMO.

I had a similar incident a couple of summers ago. Group of about eight or nine Sons of Silence that rode behind me on the two lane through the mountains for about 30 miles. When we reached the bottom of the pass and the highway opened up to four lanes, they slowly passed me and every one of them gave me either a nod or a wave as they went by. No worries.

I think they were all getting ready to stop. But when you blew through the sign they thought, "Holy Crap, we can't let a guy on an import show us up!", so they followed on. They are probably still talking about it.

As long as you show respect toward them and don't mess around, you will be fine. I have had Mongols and Outlaws come up on me on rides. Just do what you would normally do and they aren't going to hassle you. Don't try to tag onto their group though, that could end up bad.

Actually had a two Mongols talk to me at a gas stop one time...they both dwarfed. Actually talked to me about my bike and such. Believe me, I didn't initiate the conversation either, lol.

Here in my little town in north Alabama never see any group of riders to speak of. About the most I ever see will be a group of maybe 4.

The question is - How do you know what will bother them. OMC's have killed because your patch looked a little to "outlawish".

We came across a few Mongols at a Starbucks in Montana, they quietly checked out our metric bikes and minded their own business. Another time a Bandido complemented on my wife's Suzi at a Washington gas station. Guess you mind your own business and they will theirs.

I agree with Sly; most have their own issues with others. I haven't had problems ever before, but we just go our own way.
