V & H Dual Baggers

Anyone else have this problem with dual baggers? This is the second rear cylinder exhaust pipe V&H has replaced on my 06 Nomad under warranty. Kudos to them, they stood behind their product but the pipe cracked all the way around at approximately 4 inches from the head. Did not notice the exhaust noise until it was this severe. The bike has 24K miles of normal commute driving. Drove over to V&H and within a week they had the pipe ready for pickup. Good folks over there but I'm concerned about how long the new one will last. Pix too large but I'll send them email, if interested.

V & H Dual Baggers

I've never owned a set of V & H baggers but several members here do have them. A few have had problems with the cracked header pipe and many have not. There has been much discussion on this topic in the past. If you search back, you may be able to find the threads I'm speaking of on this particular board or on the garage board. Good luck.

V & H Dual Baggers

I have a set of them on my nomad. So far no problems, but I just got the bike last fall (it had 3,000 kms on it). Glad you posted this as I will make sure i keep on eye on them in case there are problems down the road. Nice to hear when a company stands behind their product and does right by it when there are problems.

V & H Dual Baggers

Some of the pipes crack exactly where yours did, mine have done this twice. After about five years it cracked and I welded it up only to have it crack again. The second time I put a patch over the crack and had it tig welded, It has being holding up well since then. The pipes are made of very thin metal and get weak from vibration after a while. It seems V&H stands behind them only during the warranty period. With so many cracked pipes they won't admit that there is a problem with some of them cracking.

V & H Dual Baggers

This is a well-known problem with V&H and is also one of the reasons I went with Cobras.

V & H Dual Baggers

Thanks all. I notice no problems after 24000K but now will keep an eye on it.

The V&H were on the bike when I got it and sound good. I never liked the way the back cylinder pipe chrome cover justs ends at he bend to left side. That's a pretty lame el cheapo design in my estimation.

I have talked to them a couple of times and they, like Kuryakyn do not care or support the Metric bikes like they do Harley. A support staff person pretty much admitted that to me.
