Ticking as the Engine Runs.

If my Nomads sit for an extended period of time there was some ticking until they warm up. The noise is like a lifter ticking or an exhaust leak. I would allow them to warm up for the 3 to 4 minutes and then ride with an easy throttle hand for the first several miles and the ticking would subside. It seems the 99 was more likely to tick than the 03, but the 03 never sits long now. The 99 sits a week at a time but it doesn't tick in that amount of time, but coming out of the winter slumber when I lived up North it was an issue.

Now I think I am just going to remove my shocks. That should eliminate any problems I may have now or in the future.

I can see that this thread that I created has been HIJACKED! SHOCKS is not the problem and the real question should be what this thread is about. HMMMM.... Can we get past this and back to the real problem...... Thanks.

And I said do as Cj said because he knows his sh*t.
Well, I said something like that.
Anyway, go to gadgets page and find out how to unhook the cold idle solinoids, add seafom to gas and check your oil.
If none of these answers help get back to us AFTER you actually try them and we will trouble shoot some more. OK ???

Ticking as the Engine Runs.

I too tried the best change to be done on a Nomad. I removed my shocks, now it rides like a dream doesn't wallow in the curves engine as smooth as sewing machine and the extra thrill is the sparks going down the road. Hell it doesn't hurt anything anyway because as stated somewhere, they are not connected to the swingarm. OH I almost forgot the most important improvement, now the shimmy in the steering is gone.

And for the record I don't wear depends and I sure don't pee my pants, just tring to add a little sanity to the whole thing.

Who that owns a Nomad doesn't know, they click, the shocks are hooked to the swingarm, and J's balancing kit is badass.

Dennis,

I think you have frustrated Blueraven. And blueraven I appologize for Dennis inconsiderately hijkacking your thread. You have every right to be upset with him!

But.......Dennis I laughed so hard when I read your post that my wife came in from her office to see if I was ok. You keep doing stuff like that and I volunteer to keep appologizing for you!

Ross

Just for the record, when you inconsiderate guys hi-jack a thread and go on and on about stupid stuff, sometimes these new guys don't get the humor. It is guys like you that make members pick up there marbles and leave.
You pissed off trjam1 and made him leave.
Oh, wait, umm, that was me, sorry, never mind. Carry on. :-[

Ticking as the Engine Runs.

I have noticed something similiar to this. When I'm cruising in 5th gear (let's say about 50-60mph) and accelerate to 70-80mph by simply turning the throttle (no down shifting), I hear this ticking noise. Almost sounds like small loose pebbles rattling around in the front fender. The bike is definately already warmed up. Any ideas/suggestions.
