Added a few lights to the rear of my Vaquero

Since I live out in the country and ride a fair bit at night I've been contemplating the addition of a couple lights on the rear. After a long search for something not too ridiculously priced I found a couple I liked at the local Princess Auto store.

While I had the bags off I also decided to see about removing the bag reflectors. Following the instructions from another forum post I drilled holes to access the screws and easily got rid of the reflectors. Instead of just patching up the holes I decided to add lights in their place. They are a smaller version of the ones I installed on the back of the saddlebags.

I opted to simply add taillights...thought about lights that would work as brake lights as well but I would have had to order them. Heading on a trip down to TN, WV, NC next week so I wanted to have them added before I go.

Shows up great at night now and for only about $60 CAN including hardware and silicone.

There are SOOO many jokes that have to go along with Princess Auto.

How much was that in USD? About 12 bucks?

In all seriousness, that would look bad a** without the stock turn signals.

LOL...yeah, yeah...I'm sure I've already heard them  And yes, our dollar sucks...but not quite that bad. Great for you guys if you're close to the border.

I was thinking about getting rid of the turn signals...or making the new lights tail and turns...but I couldn't find any I like locally. That will be phase two.

I agree, that would be very cool looking as turn signals...

Glad to see you add the lights. Never get enough lights for the distracted drivers now days. I have the brake/tail lights set up on the rear of the bags also. I set mine bags and trunk up with the 4 pin trailer plugs between the bags and fender. Unplug and removal is easy.

Rear lights

I like the look. All helps from the rear. Had a cousin killed last year as a lady rammed in the back of him stopped at a traffic light on his harley. Happened during daylight hours. Thinking of wearing some bright colored clothing just 4 that reason.
