Just got new to me 01 Nomad, totally stock except for Lindby bars. Have 97 Classic 1500 and really like it, thought I'd "step up" to a bagger. Overall, love the bike but surprised at the lack of acceleration power. Smooth and steady, but much slower than the Classic or even my 1100 Shadow Tourer.

May have to change out fuel control and exhaust. Also will need to add passenger back rest and luggage rack for my better half.

Ride safe

Welcome to the forum !!

I have an 01 Nomad as well . I put V&h True Duels , BAK and a Dobeck EJK . By adding those three you'll unleash a whole lot a power you never knew you had .

Enjoy the ride and the many miles to come ....

WELCOME Aboard!!!!!
But....
Bone stock, yea, they're a good cruiser. Make em even better, Desmog it (put coasters on, take off all the air injection crap, add V&H Bagger duals with some Chucksters Ultimate Baffles, A BAK (Chucksters) air cleaner, and a Programmer like Wiseco, or a Wild Thing). This will allow you to richen or lean out your ECUs rough fuel mapping.
Pick up alotta pep and about 8-18 Horses, engine will run cooler, will last longer, because engine is being run so lean by the onboard computer....

DragonLady...appears Wiseco doesn't carry a programmer for my bike anymore. Wild Thing is available and I'm thinking of getting one. I removed end baffles, but don't really want to change exhaust any more. Open to some changes for the intake/filter, but wondering if the Wild Thing will work with stock intake and my slightly modified exhaust? Can't find reviews for this product.

Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome aboard from Georgia. The "wild Thing" is a re-branded Dobeck TFI. I run the "wild Thing" and have been for 13 years, and have no complaints with it. A fuel processor and BAK might give you a few more ponies, and a little better mileage, but to get the most bang from the engine, you'll also need to open the exhaust up too, with a free flowing exhaust system.
