Thanks for all the welcomes.
VulcanE: I removed the end baffles and could gut the goat if that would help and be enough. Just really don't want it to get too loud and actualy like the look of the stock pipes. Have looked at Cobra and V&H but don't want that much noise. I rode a Nomad with V&H before I bought mine, liked the look but not the noise level. Anyway, in your opinion, would gutting the goat open the exhaust enough? Login or Register to Remove Ads |

Gutting the goat will do nothing for sound, and will probably decrease power a bit. The restriction in the stock exhaust is the little pipes that connect the mufflers to the goat.
I have Vance & Hines exhaust, and after a long trip pulling my trailer, the first thing I did when I got home was to get on ebay, and I found a new set of Harley stock mufflers, brand new take-offs, delivered for $40. I just had to make a adapter bracket. I have a free flowing exhaust, with a nice low rumble............ I must be getting old.
