1/4 turn throttles were a big thing on the old dirt bikes
We would take them and put them on our Z1's
I didn't have one handy and needed it.
So my dad took a sloted screw and stuck it in the track with the slot lined up.
Wasen't a 1/4 turn more like a 3/8turn but it worked

I'd waited a while before I did the RacnRay throttle mod, I'd wanted to break the Vaquero in well before any mods were done, I've now started upgrading and Ray's mod was on my short list...

I sent Ray a brand new ISO grip, he returned it very promptly and I installed the new ISO's on my Vaquero this morning... I took her for a ride and all I can say is THIS is how the bike should be coming from Kawasaki! Smooth upshifts and now I"m finally able to do rev matched downshifts, no more throttle snapping closed as slow speed, she feels like a completely different bike...

I hope Ray grows very wealthy off his mod, he deserves it!

Thumbs Up Throttle mod

Another happy customer with Rays throttle mod. Only rode 8 miles, but can notice the improvement in throttle response. Ray took my order and followed through very promptly. When I go up through the gears shifting normaly, I end up 6-7 mph faster by the time I hit 5th. This puts me at 62-65 mph wich is where it should be to me. Thanks, Ray!

Wheelies

Still have a little trouble doing wheelies in overdrive.
I think I will add a turbo and nitrus.

HELLO
My mod is applicable to most 800, 900, 1500, 1600, 1700 and V2K Vulcans. The
mod improves accelleration on all of these models, but was originally
designed to cancel out the extreme lag in throttle response on the
ride-by-wire 1700 Vulcans.
The mod is permanent and is performed on the throttle grip you are going to
use, here are your options.
If you are happy with the stock grips or have already changed to an
aftermarket grip, then I perform the mod on your grip. The grip must be
removed and shipped to me for the mod. I perform the mod the same day i
recieve the grip, and it is sent out the next day via USPS.
If you are contemplating installing aftermarket grips the mod must be
performed on the new grip. I carry Kuryakyn ISO and Avon Air Cushion grips
in stock, already modified, both brands are available in either chrome or
black. Cost for Kuryakyns is $135.00,cost for Avons is $125.00.
PRICES... If you ship your stock, Kuryakyn or any brand aftermarket grip
that uses an OEM style throttle tube for the mod, cost is $59.00.
If you ship an Avon grip for the mod i will examine the "throttle cable
attachment" piece to determine if extra work is needed for proper
installation of my mod. The Avons have a "quality control" issue with that
part and if extra work is required the cost is $69.00 for my mod. If no
extra work is required cost is $59.00.
All grips are return shipped via USPS and are insured. All above is plus
shipping/insurance charges. I do ship out of the U.S.A.
ALSO PLEASE NOTE...if you are in the South Florida area we provide this as a
drive-in/drive out service while you wait. We can modify your stock grip or
supply either Avon or Kuryakyn grips, call me for an appointment.
PAYMENTS ACCEPTED...VISA,M/C, DISCOVER, MONEY ORDERS, PAYPAL.
IF YOU HAVE ANY OTHER QUESTIONS, feel free to pm or call me directly.
THANX FOR YOUR INTEREST

I've never heard of a throttle issue on the 1500/1600s. It's my understanding that it's more than just a 1/4 turn mod. If that's all it is, you could slightly tighten the throttle cables and fix the issue. It's a 1700 thing.

I ordered a set of modified Kurys from Ray last week. They were in my mailbox in just a few days (Florida to Washington even). I just finished installing them...and believe it or not, I actually did it myself.... The throttle side went pretty quick...and I only needed my wife just to help hold things in position while I got the cables in place. The clutch side grip was the biggest PIA. Just blipping the throttle I could tell a big difference....gonna take it for a test ride here in a few minutes. I'll get back to you shortly...!

I performed this mod for a 1600 owner in New York, he was impressed by the improvement in throttle response and was very happy.

My mod was originally designed to negate the programmed-in lag the ECU has on the 1700's, and it does just that. It will also engine improve responce to throttle operation on all skoots previously mentioned.

Tightening throttle cable adjustment does not and will not alter the ratio of throttle plate opening to throttle grip rotation. One must be extremely careful in adjusting throttle cables as too tight of an adjustment can induce a bind to the cables and possibly cause the throttle to stick, potentially very dangerous.
