WOLO Air Horns on Vaqueros

Hey All,

i just bought a new WOLO BAD BOY CHROME air horm. Wanted to know 2 things.

1) how hard is it to install?
2) Are they worth it?

1. I was curious if i needed to run a relay to not burn up the factory horn button. If i do have to run one (it came with one and said MOST BIKES need it, wasn't sure if Vaqueros are the exception, crossing fingers). I have never ran a relay before, how challenging is it? Did everything else myself to this bike, just nothing electrical.

2. is it that much better? 139 Decibals seems brutal, then again, never impressed with factory horns.

Are there any other PLUG AND PLAY horns you folks can recommend?

Thanks,

Shawn

They are not hard to install, and use the relay for sure. Follow the supplied directions or check out Tech section here for the picture of wiring a relay. It will make you heard a lot better than the stock horn.

The first time you blast the horn and watch some idiot drop their cell phone, it's worth every penny.

Yes you do,

Sit in your car, roll the windows up, turn the radio up and put 3 kids in the back seat yelling, talk on your cell phone and see if you can hear your horn with the bike 20 feet away.

I had one on my last bike, super loud, anyone you honk at will stop in their tracks. The relay is a must or you will fry your wiring. The only downside to the horn is they are big and it's hard to find a good place to mount. Also the chrome plating wore off after about 8 months. I would still buy again. I put a Piatt air horn on my vaquero because it was smaller and it's a plug and play into the stock horn wiring and its works very well, it's about 85% as loud as the Wolo. I was showing a friend the wolo on my last bike after I installed it and when I pushed the horn button I think he s##t himself.

Kevinhyland,

Piatt air horn on your vaquero because it was smaller and it's a plug and play into the stock horn wiring and its works very well.

Can you give me the Piatt air horn model # I would like to purchase that and install it on my Vaquero! Thank you!

Dbui, I misspelled it on my post, it's Piaa, go to motorcycle superstore.com, search motorcycle horns, it's the only Piaa they have, $53, works great.

I don't believe the PIAA is an air horn. It is very similar to the Freeway Blaster sold at NAPA for about $18. And it's 132 db. It is plug and play and works very well. You have to stretch one of the plugs a bit to reach it.

Freeway Blaster
It's not an air horn unless it has a very very small compressor inside it, it is a emplacement for the OEM and is loud but not air operated.

So you installed it without a relay? If so any issues? I ordered a freeway blaster made by Fiamm. It is listed at 130 db. I think it draws 5 amps. Should be ok without a relay at only 5 amps. Right?
