Waving North to Alaska

The Alaska Highway is the last great North American Road trip ..

Who's in for 2014 ?

And ... it's now paved, all the way !!

I suppose you will be riding a dual sport? How long is the route? Where does it begin?...more data.

Send a message via AIM to Idaho
That would be an awesome trip for sure. May need to carry spare fuel because stations might be just beyond the range of our Vulcans in a few spots.

Agreed ... A "chase" motorhome, with fuel, and trailer (bike) is an option. Another option, is to take the ferry, inside passage, back to Seattle. I've done that, the coast is spectacular!!

That part of my bucket list on the way to Prudhoe Bay, AK. All the way on two wheels - the only way to travel. Need to fill in a few spots to my west.

Beautiful landscape, looks so remote and yet in our backyard, want to do it someday.

If enough people gave Jared a nudge. he might do a rally there?

OK, here's the proposed "chase" unit. (mine) room for two drive in cruisers. gas. tools and gear. I'd take it along if there was enough interest.

The motor home is to keep the beer cold and the women hot !!

Come-on Jared .. lets do it !!

Adventure bikes are the way to go. Lighter, better equipped to handle the crappy roads and better range.

Whatever bike you take will never be the same when you come home if you go all the way up the Haul Road. From everything I have read and the people I have talked to that have done it (some numerous times), the amount of crap that gets into every crevice of your bike will keep coming out for years. Most use, like Ponch said, dual sport/adventure bikes. There are guys that have done it on GW's and HD's.

My bucket list trip is Key West to Prudhoe Bay.

That's true of the driving conditions when there were long sections of gravel, but as I have recently read, it's all paved now .. at least one route ( Alaska Highway )

The Dalton Highway is the road to Prudhoe Bay. It is about 75% gravel. Alaska Highway is paved the entire route.

Check it out ... there's an article in Motorcycle Cruiser Magazine (MAY) on the stands right now, with a brief article on a road trip to Alaska ... what's the guy driving ... you guessed it, a Victory!
I stuck on your Bike review too, Jared ...

Cheer's.... Al
