Both the EJK and the PCV can be tuned the "old school way". Ride the skoot to assess the performance, pull over and make adjustments. The EJK is self contained, the PCV requires bringing a laptop.

If you are a "do it urselfer" both units will allow you to achieve good results, the PCV has a higher degree of adjustability and can achieve more precise results but it'll take a bit more time.

In the end and after the desired results are achieved you can, with the PCV, start to develop an ignition map which will further enhance performance.

How much time you want to spend depends on each individual, but contrary to what Dobeck says, dyno tuning IS NOT a requirement to map a PCV if you self tune the old school way.

Another vote for EJK from me.

The Gen 3 model is the manufacturer recommended one - there's no need ever to make these bikes even leaner, so the Gen 3.5 features would be wasted. And if you go EJK, remember that the green/blue switch point setting should be .5 or 1 - not 6 as suggested.

The EJK is also about the cheapest fuel controller on the market, and that certainly helps at decision time.

I'm running the G-Man controller. EJK, Bully, and G-Man are all the same I understand, just marketed under different names. I have the Thunder stock air kit and rear baffles drilled from the stock pipes. I have next to no popping and performance from 2000 RPM up has improved. The down side is MPG has dropped about 5 mpg. I will still play with it some as time goes by and see if I can get it better. Thats the good thing about it, you can adjust it as you ride in just a few seconds.

I brought the first two settings down a smidgeon from the start point Rick - I now have the green setting at 2, and the yellow at 3. My economy improved with that adjustment to better than ever before.

I have decided to go with the EJK. I love the simplicity of it and not having to splice into any factory wires. As my performance mods will be minimal, it should work beautifully for my application. Thanks to all that replied. I will report back after Santa drps off my Vance & Hines slip ons, EJK, K&N filter, long horn highway pegs, and the 2 up Mustang seat with back rests for driver and passenger. Its gonna be a great Xmas. I should have all my goodies in about 3 weeks.

Thanks Peg. I cant wait to tear into the new bike. All I have done so far is put a new windshield and a new headlight bulb. The stock one sucks. I put the Phillips Xtreme Vision 67/60. Pretty bright with only a slight increase in wattage. I have HID light on my Vulcan 1500 classic. I did not want to go that route on the Vaq.

Peg you have the first 2 settings at 2 and 3 (green and Yellow) what about the red setting. I'm on the EJK site trying the setting adjustments and theres a red setting as well?

I didn't realize that. Which vendors give the 10% discount?

Thanks,

Red is the WOT setting and not one I'd often ask of the bike... so EJK's suggested setting of 1.5 is where it still is.

So I have green at 2, yellow at 3, grn/blue at .5 - and all other settings as EJK suggest for stage 1 mods

Thanks,
Straight from EJK Pete... See this page on their site. 20-30% discounts for Police / military / fire, 10% for racers & forum users.

I should have checked that when I got mine... I never realized they would sharpen their pencil on an already good deal.

I emailed Dobeck the verification on Tuesday in order to get the promo code for the discount, so far no reply. Maybe they closed for Thanksgiving. I will wait and see.
