Many different factors, my own design BAK, fresh air ducting, HIGHLY modified V&H 2-1 exhaust, PCV and a 2 teeth smaller rear pulley. With this combo I saw 48.35 mpg on a Sunday ride few weeks ago. The last tank which had a lot of city driving netted 44.98mpg. I DO NOT use the bike's mpg meter, all calculations are with gps mileage and a calculator.
Can't trust the bike's mpg meter.

Comin up on 4 years old

I was wonderin if I was gonna hit this b4 the Vaq turns 4yo April 20th...

Had a nice ride yesterday round Lake Okeechobee with my friend Sophie on her VTX1300. I wanted to do it on one tank. We met and I filled up at the Cumberland Farms store at I-595 and Flamingo, out 595 to I-75 to US27 north and ran around the lake clockwise, hittin 78 north of Moore Haven at the top of the lake. I like the clockwise as it saves the best for last as the east side of the lake is a much nicer cruise.

Heading outa South Bay my odo showed 150 or so miles and knowing I have gone more than the required 50 or so miles to get to Café 27 I felt ok to proceed and not get gas.

As soon as we got down 27 I realized we were heading into somewhat of a head wind, duh...NOT good for gas mileage. Well, I kept the speed to bout 70 and made it to Café 27, gas light not on with 211.34 mls showing on the GPS. Skoot took 4.727 gllns to fill which calculates to 44.7 mpg.

YES...I was a bit nervous on the way down watchin that miles to empty countdown, but the Vaq is a miserly guy and sipped the fuel. I had 74,970 mls at Café 27 so further ridin after listening to some rock-n-roll had me watch the odo turn 75,000 last nite.

Another 1000 mls more b4 April 20th???

That is great mileage. I get 43 mpg on my Ducati Monster 796 and it is more than half the weight and cc of the Vaquero.

Fotunately my Cross Country Tour gets 51 mpg's burning 100% gas when not burning that crap 15% gasohol in California! In California I average 43.7 mpg's.

You ain't kiddin'! I definitely envy those who live in warmer climates.

Last fall I rolled over to 75,000 KM ( X.62 = 46,500 miles) almost to the day of 5 years of ownership. With a riding season of around 6 or maybe 7 months at the best here in the Calgary area it's pretty tough to roll on much more than that.

Great job Ray....the final touch on the back of the pipe is perfect, unique, and one off. I love the stock 2011 red color. You have been keeping the Busa in the garage and putting a butt load of miles on the Vaq it would appear.....kewel.
