The best seat for a Nomad

I have a good friend that has purchased a Mustang seat but doesn't feel that it is much of an improvement over stock.

I myself, love the mustang seat. I'm sure size, weight, seating position, etc all are a factor.

What is the general consensuses-- If money was not a factor, what would be the best seat? Mustang? Corbin? Russels? Ultimate? Airhawk? Beads? Other?

The best seat for a Nomad

Having had a Mustang on my last bike and a Daylong on the Nomad for me there is no comparison, Daylong wins by a mile. Yes they are expensive but they do what you buy them for, to ride all day long. I have done 1000 km days with no issues. I certainly could not do that on the Mustang. My 2 cents.

i went from the the mustang to the ultimate and couldn't be any happier.the mustang still produced hot spots for me after a couple hundred miles which are not a problem with the
ultimate.cost for the driver and pillion seat with driver back rest
is $725.

Russell Daylong! Went from stock to Mustang (BIG waste of money for me) to the Russell. I can ride all day now, before it was 60 to 90 minutes before severe pain was an issue.

I only had 80 or so miles on the stock seat before putting the Mustang seat on. Still not perfect, probably score it a nine of ten over the stock seat but toward the end of a long day, it burns a little, but I must be getting used to it or it is breaking in finally as it doesn't seem to bother me as much lately. Gotta love the backrest though!

got the mustang from my loving wife...and thus far have been un-impressed...not sure if there is a break-in period or not but it generally is not comfortable...i do like the back rest.

i am 6'2", 260lbs and this seat really moves me forward and for me the uncomfy spot is inside butt cheeks down to the bones...if money wasn't invested I'd prolly try something else..

Cory, How does your passenger like the pillion seat. Is the Russell passenger seat much more comfortable than the stock pillion?

I use a gel pad during the cold months and a beaded pad during the hot months and it works great for me. You can take the mustang seat and burn it for all i care

We did some 8 hour days with pretty much only fuel stops and lunch and she said that she could have kept going for a few more hours. It was even more improved for her than the drivers seat was for me.

I will likely be selling my seat at some point here if anyone is interested PM me. It is build for a guy that is 6'4" and around 230 pounds (has the third spring). Don't think the Nomad is going to get the miles now with the ST in the garage.

DaBull...just slide a Russel in on the next government contract, call it a missle guidance alternative operator seat. It should go without a hitch ;)

This is like asking "what shoes are best?". You aren't going to get a consensus. Motorcycle seats are very subjective. Some people like the stock seat. I couldn't stand the stock seat.

If price is no object, Russell Daylong is probably the best since they are custom made according to the rider's physique.

When I first bought my Mustang....I too was unimpressed, but after putting some serious miles in that seat....it has become more and more comfortable for me. I think the break-in period is actually much longer than they suggest, but I can now ride tank to tank without many issues. The backrest is most awesome!

I think I will keep the Mustang and any new seat will be going on a new bike, whenever that day comes! CJ is right though....this is like asking what cut of steak is the best, Ribeye or T-Bone. The answer is....the one that you like and works best for you... !

I'd have to say ribeye, Kris. T-bones are overrated.

Not sure how many miles it should take, I think they say 1000 or something. We did over 3000 and it was still no better ( I was likely at 4000+ including solo time).

I agree with CJ though, it is so subjective and dependent on each rider. I think with the custom built seats pretty much any of them will work for any rider, but the off the shelf ones like Mustang, Corbin, etc will not work for everyone, but most will likely be very happy with them it seems.
