I remember seeing the photos of the area, and it must have been awesome riding in the postcard territory.

Not only did he make it up there....he earned a special "Golden Compass" award at the finale dinner. You'll have to ask him about it....

The scenery is very beautiful there, maybe I'll get the chance to get out west again some day. I took a trip from Lake Louise to Kamloops years ago and it was a fantastic ride.
Our weather here was nicer in Jan than its been since then. This winter has been one of the longest in years here.

Bud? Golden Compass?
At the National in MV he went to Deals Gap and then headed for the motel.
An hour or so later he ended up back at Deals Gap.
Don't tell me he did the same sort of thing at the Western Canada rally

Well...Bud and and another rally attendee headed off on a site-seeing trip to Jasper, Alberta through Jasper National Park. Somehow, they missed the well-marked exit off Hwy 1 toward Jasper...and 100 miles later ended up in Golden, BC, where they enjoyed lunch, then returned to Canmore a little long-faced...

. The good news is that they finally made it to Jasper the next day...

!!

Last I knew Bud used seat of the pants navigation with an occasional paper map. I thought I was old school

I tried to tell him GPS is the way to go but don't think it happened.
