Day trip to Kingston

If you have visited the Eastern Canada board lately, then you know that some of us within riding distance have been throwing around the idea of a meet and greet day trip to Kingston Ontario.
Yesterday June 19Th was the day and 6 of us from different directions ended up making the trip. Including the return trip, we all put on around 500-600 kilometers to meet up. Typical of the kinds of people you meet on here, you could not ask for a nicer group.
Ringadingh and Chawnyboy rode down from Toronto way, while Vulcanguy and Timebandit came from the Ottawa direction and Sly and myself headed west from Montreal.
The plan was to meet in Kingston and take the 11:30 ferry to Wolfe Island and ride around a bit and have lunch over there. Things don't always go as planned. Ring and Chawnyboy missed the ferry by 29.9 seconds, and were forced to wait for the next one and we later discovered that paved roads on Wolfe island are limited. They seem to run in three basic directions for about 5- 10 km and then abruptly come to an end unless one is willing to take a gravel road that looked more like some ones driveway or The ferry to Cape Vincent New York. We did a little back tracking!
All too soon it was over and we headed back our separate ways. Thanks for making the effort everyone, I know I had a great time, and I hope you all did too.

Day trip to Kingston

It was a great day overall, 454 mile round trip for me, I liked the ferry ride so much I may do it again soon. You guys were all great and I enjoyed meeting you all, can't wait until Lake George where we can put our feet up and really tell some lies. If Id had a cell phone I would have called to hold the ferry for another minute. ;) I wish Id had my camera to take a picture of the Canada Customs building, it reminded me of my garden shed.

Day trip to Kingston

Looks like everybody had a blast.

The wife and I will be riding with a group to Thunder in the Valley Friday. Then heading to Niagra Falls for a couple days. We are talking about crossing the border and trying to get free health care. Oh wait a minute, they are giving that away here ::)...never mind. Anyway, we thought we would peek into Canada for a day of riding. The original plan was to stay in Kingston. But that got put on the back burner. But we are definitly going to ride in Canada for a little while.

Does anybody have a good route to ride from the Niagra area?

Day trip to Kingston

From Niagara Falls there isn't a lot of choices to head towards Kingston. You will have to take the Queen Elizabeth Highway,(QEW) through Toronto then head east on the 401 to Kingston. Its about a 250 mile ride from Niagara to Kingston.
Make sure you go to Niagara On The Lake, along the Niagara Parkway, Its a short ride but very picturesque, and a must see if your in the area.
Traffic through Toronto is very busy and hectic. try to get through there between 10am & 3pm, or youll be stuck in the worst traffic youve ever been in.
