Caddmann Air Kit

Where can I get one of these kits that Gadget refers to?

Just kidding .

After I got back from Mesquite, I bought a 9" Spectre chrome air cleaner and the 9" K&N filter. I mounted it on the LH side and removed the rubber intake port and sealed the hole with a piece of sheet aluminum.

I suppose the next step in the process is getting a fuel processor. I am not ready at this point to remove the crossover tube or remove the reed valves, since the dealer sees my bike every 3,000 miles. I don't want to get too radical just yet. I have been considering the Cobra F2000 and I have been looking at a product made by GMan industries called the Bully Fuel Processor. They will have a model for the Nomad by the end of summer, or so I've been told.

I guess what I'm wondering is if I am going about this the right way?

you mean the "Blowndodge Air Kit".?? considering how bad your bike pings (remember you told me on the way to Mesquite) your going about it the right way.

If I had to do it all over again, and I still might, I'd get a TFI and mild air kit and cut baffles and feed in the fuel until it doesn't ping anymore. Knowing me I'd try to adjust it until I could run regular in the summertime with minimal pinging.

CJ I used the Techlusion (Dobeck Performance) Fuel Injection TFI Control and it works great opened up the V&H baggers and put the air cleaner on also removed the cold idle sensors now the bike runs like a bat out of heck.

When I'm riding in the Valley, I only use 91 octane because it doesn't ping as bad. When I go up to the mountains, I use 89 octane and get no pinging.

Hmm, I wonder if my wife would consider moving to the mountains because my Nomad runs better up there? Naw, she'd probably tell me to not let the door hit my backside on the way out.

I guess I'll start getting serious about a fuel processor then.

Guys, I didn't have any pinging problems on the ride to Mesquite & back, and I was haulin' Judy plus a lot of luggage. Ask Redeye what we had tied on that bike. I was running premium, but then I always do. Also, on a long hot run like that I crank the TFI up a bit more than usual.

For my normal 10 mile commute I keep it cranked down, as the bike tends to run rich until it really warms up fully. I still haven't messed with curing that issue, as the TFI is just too easy to adjust.

Every single day, buddy. Every single day. You should too!
Look close & you'll see my friend Tiny runs one too. He likes it.

BTW, Tiny is about 6'-5" and over 300 lbs. You wouldn't want to dissappoint him, eh?

Yup.... I ran 2 Cadd's, but removed the air by pass this spring, and run just the right side now.

If I were you I would put back on the left stock side which will do about nothing and pull the solenoids, tape up the wires, nylock them, and install that K&N on the right, so the thing can breath.

I like the TFI, in part because I can do it myself to suit, and it can't forget.

All I can get is regular here now. I ran 89 with the TFI ok, and now find I can run 87 just fine. Both my nomads pinged stock.

I liked the 2 cadd's set up well enough, and it even saved me once.. The right side vibrated off, and was lost.. I found the chrome battered baddly as it was run over by a car, but look as I did I never saw the filter again. I think it was caught under that car. SO I pulled the left side, and stuffed a rag in the left..

As to that tube... ALL the air the engine can breath has to go thru that tube.. It isn't like that tube is smooth and speeds up any air either. at the last instant all the air has to make a friggin U Turn!

This is Mac when we put on his first Caddmann Kit. He's trying to decide if the stock Nomad cover would make a good doggie dish. He decided it was too heavy & left both of them with me.

He was smart too. I showed them to my dogs & they wouldn't even eat out of the dang things. ;)
