Voyager Kickstand

The Voyager has a kickstand that is about an inch shorter than the old 1500 Nomad. I don't know why they did this but I didn't like lifting it off the stand. So! So I put a 1500 Nomad stand on it and it seams much better to me. That was easy. Just thought someone else might want to know.

That is the biggest problem I've had with this bike. Second is windshield height (replacement ordered).

Is the kickstand a direct replacment? No other mods needed? Seems to me too that the bike leans over further than the 1600 nomad, so would welcome a fix. Any idea how much further it stands it up, in degrees or inches?

As for the screen, have cut down an old nomad screen to 11" and tried it on. Seems better as I am vertically challenged at 5'8". Having seen that the 11" work have sent off for an new $30 (ok I'm cheap) elctraglide screen which should work on it. Bonus is the screen is polycarbonate and the aftermarket ones so far are acrylic. Will take pics when the new screen comes so that you can see what it looks like. Got some pics in my photobucket account that you can look at of the screen I cut to fit.

Yes, the 1500 Nomad kickstand is a direct replacement no other mods necessary. The replacement kickstand makes the bike stand up about the same as the old Nomad. I was told that the newer1600 Nomad's also have the shorter kickstand but I'm not sure what year they made the change.

I'm vertically challenged also at 5' 6", with a short torso. I have a 14" shield ordered from Cee Baileys. I'm trying to keep it as high as possible for my passenger. 13" would have maybe been better but wasn't offered.

I really like this bike. I was pleased with the two old girls I had at Custer. Both the 1500 Nomad and the passenger. <LOL> The three of us traveled well together. With 90,500 miles on the Nomad we had become close. Well, I haven't even been on the old one since I picked up the new one.

My wife that said she didn't know why we needed a new one when the old Nomad worked so well. Today on a ride told me she likes this new ride and we are going to travel well on this bike. (sigh of relief)
