07 Nomad 1600 rear shocks

One of my shocks is leaking air fast enough that I can watch it fall on my progressive air pump. Is there a repair for this that anyone knows of? 1 replacement shock was quoted by the local stealer at $547.00. I think I just might have to find another solution to this problem. I checked on the Progressive shocks from their website and they say they dont show any shocks for this bike. Something has to be wrong about that. Any suggestions?

There is no repair that Ive ever heard of for leaking air, youll have to replace the shock.
You may be able to find a used one on ebay or somewhere a lot cheaper.
There is no listing for Progressives but a lot of guys have used them, order the correct length or shorter if you want to lower the bike a bit. You may have to get the corrct bushings for the eyes or possibly use your old ones if they don't have the right size available.

Order up your progressives for a 1600 classic. They come with several sets of bushings. I"m running the 13" 412 shocks..way better ride imo...Bdog

Where is the leak? If all it is, is the schrader valve you can fix that, but if it is anything else you are dead meat, unless you have warrenty left.

Thanks macmac. It leaks with gauge connected. So its not likely the schrader.

If the pump and gauge are one piece ck that too. Fill a spray bottle with warm water and dish soap, and see whats leaking exactly.

I just changed my 08's rear shocks to the Progressive 11.5". (I'm short) I ordered the ones that fit the 1600 classic as stated above.

Ordered the shocks and trying to install them today. The bushings included do not fit the studs on my bike. The package they were in says for Harley D. There is too much slack in my opinion to put them on without some type of bushings that fit. The top hole on the progressives are smaller than the top hole of the stock shock. I could make it work but I would have to tap out the sleeve on the top hole and use the stock bushing. Did you guys have bushings that fit?

Mine came with three different sizes of sleeves.

My bike is about 1" lower than stock and fits me much better than before.

Kip,

What was the length of the Progressive shocks you ordered? Also, was it the model 412?

not to throw salt into the wound, but stuff like this is why i got the extended warranty on my 07! had a rear shock go out after 2 years, and was covered. didnt want to take any chances, so i bought the extended.
